boarding axes

Recommended Posts

Here are some boarding axes that LDW and I forged today. These pics are just after forging, no grinding yet. The miniature one was forged from 2 1/2" of 3/4"post-4954-12654123013347_thumb.jpg W2. The second was forged from 3 1/2" of 1 1/4" jack hammer bit. The largest was forged from 3 5/8" of 1 5/8" 4140.

Thanks guys, I don't normally do blades, but we're going to a mini-knife show next weekend for the Mississippi Forge Councils meeting on second Saturday. Lyle,LDW, thought they'd like them. We'll be demoing them.
Here is the info for the Feb. Meeting...

Very cool Brian. I really like the looks of them. Am I correct in thinking that you did the eye for the axes basically the same way you do a hammer eye?

"is that a new blacksmithing book I haven't seen yet?"

No it's a fictional naval series set during the Napoleonic wars. (Very good BTW)
