Jazborocketman
Hello. I have absolutely no idea whether this is even the right place to write a post. I'm a professional blacksmith (17 years working as sole trader) from England, Herefordshire. Can some one tell me if they managed to read this and is it in the right place ? I need guidance! Glenn
Your introduction was placed into the proper category, you listed a title for the post that made sense, you listed your location, you introduced your self well and overall made a right smart showing. You even ask for instructions if they were needed. Your doing great so far. Now I am not familiar with the term sole trader, so if you could please, explain that for me. Please continue to ask question in the proper categories (of course) and allow us to utilize your 17 years of experience by providing us with YOUR way of doing things, those things that you do to make life easier for the blacksmith. If you run out of reading material, there is a button bottom right on the forum page called ARCHIVE. Click on archive, click on a section, click on a sub-section, and notice pages 2,3,4,,,, at the top of the page. You are by default on page one. Choose a topic of interest and everything from the first question to the last comment is right there, all in one place. We do suggest that you pack a lunch and a cold drink when you go to the archive. (grin) Welcome to IForgeIron, enjoy your visit.
Jazborocketman
Thanks Glenn, I think it was more luck than judgement that I did the right thing. I still don't know for this is going to end up in the right place either. A sole trader is a UK term for anyone who works in any profession principally on their own without official employees or employers. I must come clean and tell you I am still unclear ehere to find the archive pages. I have a website with a small selection of my work; Welcome | Jaz Asbury Metal Design. I listed it in my profile details but I don't know if other people can see that or even whether I can find it again. I hope it all comes clear. I'm sure it will. John B
Hi and welcome to the site Jaz, some nice work there on your site, and look forward to contributions from you here on the site. It would be good to see some of your work at the National Blacksmiths Competition shows in the UK so others could see it, it also gives you a low cost way to bring your products before thousands of potential customers. Details can be found at National Blacksmiths Competition there will also be a couple of iForge inspired weekends coming up this year at Westpoint in Devon, details can be found at Blacksmiths Guild Home Look forward to your contributions here, and possibly meeting you sometime at a forge in or County/National show. Jazborocketman
Thanks John B. I'm taken aback at how quickly I've got replies to my 1st message. I'll have a look at the links you sent. Am I supposed to write a message in this thread or send it directly to you if it's addressed mainly to you? Sorry to be such a novice. There is a Gold Mine of information to be found here at I Forge Iron because so many un-selfish blacksmiths and tradesmen are willing to contribute. Please feel free to add to this vast wealth of information, because I am taking notes as fast as I can!! Jaz Welcome aboard Jaz, glad to have ya. No it wasn't luck, you applied simple logic and outside of missing the thread all the rest of your introduction was very well done. I'm not a bit surprised having visited your web site I see you do meticulous work that carries a lot of imagination this tells me you have good problem solving skills. I hope you don't decide to get shy on us, I think you have a lot to share and I'm not to proud to absorb everything you present. Jazborocketman
Hello all. I have now looked cursorily at the forum in general and it's great. If any one notices that I've not made any contributions for many days it's not because I've abandoned the site but I simply don't have much free time these days. If I do ever get a moment it's normally eaten up by demands form my two boys (2 and 4). I'm also flat out in January but come late winter -early spring I'd like to get more involved for sure. David Einhorn
Welcome to the forum. Please add your location to your profile so people can tailor answers to your location. You can place your location in the "Location" in the "Other Information" section of the forums "Profile". An example can be seen under my Avatar. How to put a location under your Avatar Step 1. Click on your name on the upper right hand corner of this screen for example Bob would click on “Mainely.Bob”. Step 2. Scroll down and Click on "My Profile" Step 3. Chick on “Edit My Profile” button near the upper right corner of the screen. Step 4. Scroll down in the next screen to “Other Information” heading on the screen. Step 5. In the “Location ” box, type your location into this box. Step 6. Scroll to the bottom of this screen and click on the box that says, “Save Changes”. I hope this helps. If not let me know where I may need to elaborate.
