SusanLeeGlam
I checked off another item from my "Bucket List". We all have those, right? I am a 56 year old grandma, who, last weekend, got to learn how to throw Hawks, and then got to forge my own Hawk. Now I want to make more, and make some for gifts. Hope you can help me get started. I will do lots of reading here, and anywhere else you tell me to go.
Thomas Dean
Howdy from East TEXAS!! and welcome to IFI! How exciting! My first suggestion would be to join BAM! A fantastic group of smiths and they enjoy helping newbies get started. www.bamsite.org (it's either .com or .org) Also, if you can, there is the ABS (American Blade Society) school in Old Washington, ARK. Less than an hour from Texarkana, ARK. Attending a few classes there are on my 'list'. Pretty intensive from what I've been told but well worth the time and $$. My next suggestion is to update your profile. Click on 'User CP' in the green bar at the top of the page. Give your location (city,st is fine). This will help as we can inform you of any blacksmith gatherings in your area, available tools, and so on. Also, if we are ever in your area we can drop by for supper! Once again, welcome. Enjoy the addiction, you might as well it doesn't go away you know. Frosty
