Frosty
Welcome aboard Pfreid, glad to have ya. I don't think aluminum is going to work very well for the lead screw and nut in a screw press, the pressures are enourmous and Al tends to gall pretty easily under high pressure. On the other hand I've been wrong so many times I'm not about to say it wont work. I'd say your next step on the path to blacksmithing is lighting the forge and beating some steel into other shapes, that and getting together with the local smithing organizations and attending a couple gatherings for some first hand instruction. An hour with an experienced smith will knock weeks or months off the self tought learning curve. Frosty
