Rich Hale
This is my damascus billet, hollow ground for a 6" slim blade. The low layer count blade is from 1084 and pure nickel. The handle is desert ironwood with 416 stainless fittings. It has nickel and brass spacers separated by black. The overall length is 11 /2"
jack hollingsworth
thats such a nice blade Rich, i like how its not so "busy" or complex, its refreshing. How do you secure the handle on? is it peened at the end cap or some other method? Do you have a picture of how you put the billet together to start off with that you could post? MonteCristo
Wow, I want that! The subtlety of the wood handle matches the subtlety of the Damascus pattern very well!
Mick
Rich that knife exudes excellence and beauty on so many different levels, now if you would post it to me for a physical appraisal just to check that it matches up to its appearance I will return it to you in about thirty years or so. nonjic
Nice going rich! good balance in the pattern. Im going to have to track down some pure Ni soon :)
mcraigl
Rich, as others have said, that's a real beauty. I have a question for ya. On a "lower layer count" blade like that, do you end up with noticeable soft spots in the edge where the pure Ni is at? Or are they still thin enough in section as to be not noticeable? Just curious.
