HEM Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Hi every one I'm Hem from Island of paradise Mauritius, my personal experience in knife smith started when I was 12 years old and it was just simple stock removal. After high school I've joined a construction company and work as a general labor, then became a storekeeper and ended as an administrative office, but right now I'm studying to become a health and safety officer. Since I have some free times, I started making knives again, but no more stock removal, just wish to forge my blades. After gathering all the basic materials (anvil, a few made tongs, hair dryer) I've plan to buy a hand crank blower, but as these are not readily available (mostly difficult to find) I found this site- ANGELE Schmiedetechnik - ANGELE-SHOP The price for a new hand crank blower seems to be reasonable, what do you think about it? Finnr Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Greetings. Any new hand cranked is going to be expensive. To my knowledge only Angele and Vaughn are making them at this time. Finnr Quote

Finnr Hi Finnr That's true, but, they are the only one who offers international sales service, I email an alibaba supplier, the same one that an I forge iron member had mention earlier. This guy send me a quotation of about $4 for a hand crank blower (with metal gears) and a minimum order of 500 unit... Quote
Frosty Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Welcome aboard Hem, glad to have you. New hand cranked blowers are hard to find, only two manufacturers I know of as Finn says. If you'll click "User CP" and edit your profile to show your location it can make a big difference. IFI is represented by members from more than 50 countries and a lot of info is location specific. If local folk know you're around they can invite you to gatherings, tip you to tool deals and offer hands on help. Frosty Quote
