Choo Choo Forge has open forge every Thursday from 1:00pm to 7:00pm for members, visitors are always welcome. We have new classes all the time with 2 of the best instructors any one could hope for. It's a great atmosphere where everyone one is learning and helping others learn at the same time. We have special projects from time to time such as the gas forges we are just completing. Tomahawks are in the near future. Meetings are the first Thursday at 6:00pm every month. Times are EST. Come see what all the excitement is about.
A friend of mine has shown interest in my blacksmithing work and has commissioned a staff from me. Here it is. As you can see it is not so difficult, the grooves are 2mm deep and there are a total of 20, 10 a side, the patrons name will be in the center and their initials on the ends. It will be 2m long and 2cm wide. The entire length of the staff will have a hammered texture to it and I think it will look very nice. I will be in Nashville in January 2013 visiting my home town and traveling from where I live abroad. My 11 year old son is desperate to start a forge and continue with Blacksmithing that he learned in the wilds of Minnesota at summer camp 2 years in a row. We cant find anything where we live and he wants to work with someone while we are in Nashville and provide guidance to him so that we can do it upon our return to our home country. Any guidance on someone in Nashville would be great and it would be a lot of fun and education for us.
