  1. I am having a heck of a time locating decently priced steel stock in west suburban Chicago. I’m in the Aurora, IL area of the US. The cheapest place I have found so far wants $36 for a 20’ stick of 1/2”. Does anyone have advice on a supplier that is decently priced in the area? I have tried the scrapyards in the area and it’s mostly cars and tubing. Thanks! Mark
  2. Hi All, I've just started out, and the supply of fuel that came with my forge is very close to running out.... Any Smiths in South Central/South East England that have a good supplier?? I can't seem to find anything!!! Sorry if this has been asked before!! James.
  3. I've gotten the bug and as cheaply as possible I've put together a shop. Rag tag items like a forge made from an old grill and a piece of railroad track for an anvil. My mantra to taking on this hobby/ possible future business, is to make money to put forwards purchases. in my opinion wood as a fuel source is not very efficient. Seem to be going through a lot of it really fast without it ever getting really hot. So I may need to spend some money to make money and find a good coal source for my area. But I can't seem to find anything close by. Any Charlotte area smiths have any leads on any sup
  4. Hello all, I live near Los Angeles, CA, and I was wondering if there's a good supplier of bituminous coal, ideally within a few hours drive, but I'd have it shipped if need be. And if you don't know, is there some directory or list I could find suppliers in?
  5. i am looking for a place to buy knife blades like these http://www.knifemaking.com/category-s/57.htm so i can finish them and better understand how to mount hardwear top them without spending a ton of money making the blades, then i can hopefully sell them (being honest that the blades are not of my making) for a small profit, but i cant find any where i can order them through the mail in canada, i could order them from jantz but would rather not pay the boarder fees and wait for the super efficient boarder people to let the package through Thanks Josh
