. Here is a mild steel header I made for making copper nails (3/8 " x 1-1/2 " flat forged into a swage block for a dome). The square hole opening in the header is a frog hair over 1/8 " square, and I started with 3/16 " solid copper wire (#4). The nails are approx 7/8 " long and have about a 3/8 " head. This job only requires 56 copper nails, so I have a few left from the 20 made so far, not that many compared to the old days of making nails for a living.
