I am looking for itc-100 and cant find any. I have a gas forge that barely gets to welding heat and i would like to get it hotter so i can forge weld better, I live in new Cealand and cant find a place that either sells in new Zealand or ships to new Zealand I don't mind buying from overseas. i am aware that there probably aren't many people who are open right now because of Covid-19 but am looking for someone to buy from after normal life resumes. thanks!

Hi everyone! Please, I know, before you bash me, this has been asked hundreds of times. The problem I have is that I have ABSOLUTELY no access to any of the 2000C° plus refractory linings. I live on a small island in Portugal, there are no blacksmith, no forges, so no forge related stores. And due to EU regulations, most refractories contain chemicals not really suitable for exportation/importation so any outside shops I find, don't ship them here. I managed to buy a decent amount of ceramic blanket, but I'll be getting my cancer through smoking, so I need to coat it. So I was thinking if I could basically make a thick steel box, stuff as much blanket as possible in there and make another square box thing to use as the inside walls of the forge. I wonder if the heat would cause so much warpage that the steel would just unweld itself, also thought about expanding gases inside the insulation so I would drill tiny hole just to vent the extra pressure so it wouldn't blow up on me. Any help, someone who could send me some castable refractory, is greatly appreciated. TL;DR : Can I use steel plates as my forge lining?

Hi In my search for a supplier of Kaowool or similar in Norway, I finally found a supplier of a similar product from another brand. However, after i received an offer for their current product, with clear warnings of the health hazards, the sales person got back to me that they recently got a new product that is less harmful. The product can handle up to 1400C/2552F. From the press release Thought I'd post it here if anyone are interested. http://www.unifrax.eu.com/web/goldminev2.nsf/ByUNID/AA2D17D0F8CA701A80257BB2005055AD?OpenDocument&msg= Note: I am not in any way affiliated with this company. I am in fact about to get quite a bit poorer because of them, since smallest order quantity is one roll... Ouch. Here is the data sheet http://www.unifrax.eu.com/web/goldminev2.nsf/p1_ds.pdf and Safety data sheet: http://www.unifrax.eu.com/web/Audit.nsf/ByUNID/A61BB0ACAF204B89852582200053068F/$File/Unifrax SDS Isofrax 1400 V1.00 (GB-en) 170403.pdf Anyone with experience reading safety data sheets that can comment?

How would yall insulate this forge? 1 or 2 x 3/4" burners? •12"L x 6"W x 6"T inside finished demensions • sliding front door (up and down) fire brick for pass threw on back •covered in 1/8" mild steel with 1/4" wrap around mild steel for sliding work into and out of forge and storage on side • expanded metal shelf underneath • hanging rack on one side for tools This is my first forge and there are so many different ways to insulate it I wanted to know how yall would do it? I' looking to be able to get to forge welding temps for damascus work one day. Also wanting to build one sword for myself (hints the pass threw). What also like this to consume the least amount of propane as possible. What are your suggestions on things I should change or things I should add I have roughly a $200 budget which can be fudge to little bit not including the burners or the 1/8" or 1/4" steel for the outside. So $200 for insulation purposes. Please excuse my hands scratch on the drawings (there's a reason I don't write papers for a living).

If the only store that sells insulating wool not have ceramic wool but they have fiberglass wool, would that be cool or would that be a terrible idea? Any alternatives. Also just for fun, any fun or cool/wacky forge ideas that works surprisingly.

has any one used this brand http://www.walmart.com/ip/43062374?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227030820775&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=55974472856&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=99933964376&veh=sem if so any thoughts on it its about half the cost but that kinda scares me cause i know you get what you pay for (ok looked little more this only #6 but they have #8 for only $83 for 24" by 25')
