I give you my Ugly Metal Box. I know its ugly. I have never welded anything other than a few pieces of scrap to get used to the process. This is literally my first time welding, cutting metal (both sheet and angle), using a drill press or a tap. But it is solid and I promise it will not be lit without testing all the gas fittings. All or the parts for the box are salvaged from around my property as were most of the fittings for the burners. And the fire brick was gifted from a friend who had ordered too many while building a kiln. I wanted to share it because even without having att

Hey everyone! I built my first forge ever yesterday out of some bricks in an old grill. I’m using a black iron pipe and a hair dryer with a shop vac attachment as my air source. Charcoal is the fuel. Mid anyone has any suggestions or recommendations please let me know what I need to do to forge properly and safely. Thanks Dallas

Hey everyone my name is Dallas. I am from Southeast Texas and no I am not named after the Cowboys. Yesterday I built my first forge out of an old grill a roommate said I could have and some bricks from Home Depot. I have been wanting do do this craft for several years and didn’t know how or where to start. So I thought the best way to learn is to fail so don’t hold back when correcting me. Thank you for your time and I look forward to any input so that I can forge properly and safely. Thanks Dallas

Hey, Hypno here. I have been interested in blacksmithing for the last year and I've read all the books but now I'm ready to buy some tools and start. Now this is my dilemma: I can't spend much more than $50 on the whole shabang. The good news is I already have some a couple of hammers and a bench press so those won't have to be purchased. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you knew how I could get/make an anvil and forge to start blacksmithing/bladesmithing for under $50. (Please note I have NO powertools and I myself can't fabricate easily) Your feedback is appreciated! Hypno.
