Hello! So I am currently talking to some people about this in my other topic, but I figured it might be nice to just have a subject about it for beginners like me. I am curious about how much air certain fuels need. I am using coal, but answers for coke and charcoal would be great to for others. For me, I don't believe I am getting enough air to my fire. I don't have any obstructions, maybe some clinker, but not enough to stop my fire from getting hot enough. I am using either a small Chinese hand crank blower or a small squirrel cage blower. The fire would get hot, but it was

Hello.... I have a few questions... I'm in the process of making a forced air burner.... my question is my gas comes in from the side at 90deg to the air pipe... I feel that it would be better if it came in from the same direction as the air does... I've attached a pic of my 1st attempt and then a pic of my next sort of plan..... someone said to me for forced air I should use 1 1/2 in piping for burner tube and air intake.... can anyone give some input... thanks Nic

Hello, I am new to blacksmithing scene and currently in process of making my first forge but currently stuck on what to use for air source. I am working on budget so i cannot buy any sort of proper expensive equipment. I had few ideas of hair dryer or mattress air pump but it turns out that those things overheat quickly therefore its not very reliable. I am no expert on forging but i believe you need constant air blowing to the fire to keep it hot therefore overheating of the air source will prevent it from constantly keeping fire hot. Sorry if i'm talking nonsense i am new to this so cor

I have a POS little giant 25 pounder It had no arms or springs so I fabbed some. It doesn't have the "umph" I need. All I do is Damascus and I don't hold my tools sacred so I want to convert it to Air. Has anyone done this? I'd even trade it for an air hammer or decent hydraulic Press. thanks guys.
