I recently found this old belt grinder at an electrical surplus shop just sitting on the ground. I bought the thing and brought it home but cannot find any information on this thing. The guy told me at the store he thought it was a 2"x72" belt grinder but I measured the loop around all the wheels and only measured 60"-63" after you let out all the adjustment. Also the two wheels towards the back are both 1-3/4" wide wheels however the bottom wheel in the front where the platten connects is only 1-1/2" is that normal?? The only information on the cast aluminum frame states, "Sandmaster Products

Here is the new grinder I built. I am completely new to the 2x72 format. Still kind of new to blacksmithing. I have been in it about 1.5 years. I got a forge, anvil, leg vise. I’ve made some hooks, hearts, bottle openers, and 2 knives. I have a friend tell me 3m Cubitron is the best and Norton is pretty good. Although offered no place to shop for one. I understand that ceramic is the best, zirconia is next best, aluminum silica is the bottom. I have found a online shop called Combat Abrasives. Where is the best place to buy belts? knife supply store? Amazon? Other Brands? Links? startin

I need to purchase some sand paper / belts for some of my equipment to use on metal. I am primarily a woodworker so most of my stuff is for that. I have also orderd a 2x72 sander. Hammer makers: What Grits ranges, Abrasive types and manufactures do you use. And what do you use the most of. Do you have a preferred on-line supplier. Knife Makers: Same question. Brian, what do you use to finish your hammers? I'll have to order on-line and figure I might as well just stock up on the right stuff and be done with it. THe local home depot just doesn't carry much of this kind of
