  2. Long time lurker, first time poster. Working on my first forge! decided to go for a propane thank shell with a single burner, 2" of Kaowool plus rigidizer. Pics are included: All things were moving along smoothly! Went and built a small stand to hold the tank, lined with Kaowool and got all the cutouts nice and even.   3. It’s taken a while, but my forge build is finally complete bar the IR reflective coating. Many thanks to all who gave advice. I started by building a naturally Aspirated ribbon burner on a 3/4” Frosty T-burner mixer. I built the frame for the castable from scrap wood and put shipping tape, the type used to tape boxes shut, on what would become the interior of the form before assembling it, punching holes in each crayon socket and coating it with Crisco (butter flavored, for the curious) before inserting the crayons.   4. Hello everyone! So we (me and my father) just tried to make one of Jarom Rush's Venturi burners (instructional video series) for our first forge (of Zoeller's design). However, I am having a few problems: 1. We couldn't find any 1 1/4" to 3/4" reducers, so we put an additional piece to decrease to the appropriate size. I assume that by deviating from the original design, we messed something up. 2. We have no adjustable PSI regulator. The one we tried to use seemed far too low for the torch to do anything; do I even need a PSI regulator? 3. When we light the flame, it doesn'
  5. Blacksmithing seemed like a fun new hobby to try so I'm trying to put an easy forge together with as few manly skills as possible. Here are some pictures of the forge. I used a popcorn can with two layers of 1" wool and a fire brick. The refractory cement is still to come. The torch is a weed burner I have which I'm thinking might be overkill for the size of the forge. I get about 3 feet of fire coming out the end of the forge. Any tips on fixing this.   6. It has been a long time and a few head injuries since I had to do geometry, so please, be kind.. I just want to order my supplies and not find out I screwed up my calculations! i was given a stainless steel fire extinguisher from a commercial kitchen for use as a forge body. The base of the cylinder is 7" diameter, and the height is 20" (20.5" if you count the threaded part at the tapered end where trigger and output were formerly attached). if I wanted to line this tube with two inches of inswool, some rigidizer, and some ITC 100, how much inswool would I need to buy?   7. It's been a LONG time coming, but I finally scraped together enough time to make my forge and the cart for it! Please ignore most of the Sharpie markings, this was a huge learning process for me lol.
