Hello. I’m a newbie who has inherited two anvils. One I want to keep for jewelry making and the other I’d like to sell. I don’t know how to price and which to keep. Can anyone identify and estimate value for sale? Which one should I keep? Thanks!
Recently joned the forum, and figured I would start posting. Attached are pictures of an ACME Anvil I saw for sale on Craigslist recently. There are quite a few numbers stamped at the foot of the base, see picture. It appears to be stamped '120' on the left. Perhaps the right side is a serial number? (A38215 ??). For ACME anvils, is the 120 indicating pounds, or is that marking the stone weight? (which would make it 168 lbs). In the picture of the side, is the top plate delaminating, or is the top plate seam just visible? They are asking $600 - which seems a little steep given the condition. I was considering offering $350 for it (about $2/lb.), but that is well below the asking price. Is this anvil worth buying for my first anvil? If so, any thoughts on a fair price? Thanks, Matt O'Driscoll Virginia
So I picked up an Acme Post drill. From what I can find is they were sold by Sears. It is in decent shape and has had some repairs done well. The only thing left to so is replace the ratchet arm and claw. Here are some pics of the overall drill and the attempt by previous owner to make a new ratchet arm and claw. Does anyone know where I can find one? I wish I had an old one for someone with blacksmith skills to cast a new one. Any and all help is appreciated in advance!!! Also any other good information anyone can give me about it would be great too.
Hey everyone. This is my first topic as I am new to I Forge Iron. I need some help idetifying the maker of an anvil pictured below. From the quick internet research I conducted, it resembles a Peter Wright. Unfortunately, I have not seen it in person and have nothing to go on except with what is visible in the picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
