  2. actually the purpose of the blood groove is a bit darker. a plain blade if left in the wound acts as a sort of plug. the blood groove is meant to eliminate that plug and allow the blood the flow. This results in a added lethality to a blade
  3. Im new to blacksmithing so I have no idea what Im looking at it the scrap yard. Is there some sort of reference that will tell me what a given piece of steel off off a car or piece of machinery is likely to be?
  4. that thing looks like it'll get the job done in a scrap with any shambling zombie horde! Wicked Blade man!
  5. what is the best way to temper a double edged dagger? Im looking to get a good hard edge maybe about 55-57Rc with a softer core. what would be the best way to accomplish this?
  6. been thinking about casting a steel anvil. anybody got any suggestions on this? Im thinking about just melting some old car springs and thew like and seeing what I come up with. what would be a good steel to use for this?
  7. it matches what I have seen of a lot of Arabs here in Iraq. Xxxx hard workers and pretty good at what they do when they are of a mind to do it. a lot of their shops are rather primitive and limited on equipment, but that does not stop em from putting out some pieces Id like to have. Ive also noticed a lot of these folks do seem to have a really different attitude about safety equipment.
  8. actually by looking at his outfit and how his shop looks, Id say he's arabic. would explain the whole thing
