  1. Just got home from visiting Stan. His spirit is high but still in alot of pain.He says hello to everyone. He will be online when he feels like he can keep up with the "typing" and can move alittle better. He says the pace maker hurts worse than his chest.Doing good though. B)

  2. (This is Mary, Stan's oldest daughter)I have hacked into Kyle's profile here, so I could update you all and let you know that Dad made it home around 7pm tonight. He was relaxing on the couch when I left. The nurses at Barnes Hospital were sad to see him leave, they loved him so much. But I know for sure they wont have to hear him complain anymore about receiving diet pepsi on his tray. And he was thrilled to get home and have some real coffee again. Thanks again to all of you for the prayers and thoughts for my Dad and for the rest of the family. Maybe if possible, you all can keep praying for my mother, now that Dad is a new man, she is going to have her hands full, lol.

  3. Stan will be so over joyed to see all of your prayers, thoughts,& comments! He really thinks the world of all of you,(I hear it all the time)lol..All he wants to do is teach & spread the knowledge of what he knows about smithing & machineing.

  4. Update: Stan made it out of surgery about 3:30pm. All went well. Arm is in sling for about 6wks. They removed the main IV out of his neck, finally, been there for a week now. He is out of ICU finally and in a different area of the hospital, so those of you that got his ph# for ICU, it wont work anymore. He is hoping and keeping his fingers crosses that he might be discharged tomorrow. Will update when I know more.

  5. Update Change: As of 2:30pm Stan is having his Pacemaker put in. The procedure will last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Got to love big hospital communication. After Stan comes out of surgery, he has all ready made a request for some French Onion Soup w/grated parmasean and a bowl of chicken noodle soup, all from the St. Louis Bread Co. Will update later this evening when the procedure is over and he is situated in his new room.

  6. Evening update for 3/5/11: Just talked to Clara. She had good news and bad news. The good news is that Stan is doing better. But the bad news, Stan will be going back into surgery on Monday. They will be putting a permament pace maker in. They shut the temporary pace maker off today and his heart completely stopped. So please keep Stan in your prayers for a little longer while he goes back under the knife.

  7. Morning update for 3/5/11: Stan has all ready walked once around the ICU unit this morning. Still having problems keeping his heart rate regulated, still too low. So they are adjusting his medication and anything else possible. He slept comfortably last night and was napping this morning when Clara called. He was complaining about the IV in his neck being uncomfortable and feeling like it was pulling. Clara told him that this was normal.

  8. Update for 3/4/11: Stan walked twice around the ICU unit again. They started him on a laxative and also a lasix(water pill for swelling). He ate a little spaghetti for dinner tonight. Still on the tylenol and oxycodon(sp?) for pain. Still having problems regulating is heart rate. Stan ask the nurse today "if they discharged patients on sundays", The nurse said "yes we do, but you arent leaving us yet, you have to remain in ICU a little longer and still go to the step-down unit." He is trying to "fly the coop" all ready, lol. They also put a phone in his room today, So Clara was able to talk to him on the phone. She said he sounded a little stronger today. If anyone wants to contact him pm me and I will get the number from Clara.

  9. Evening Update: Just talked to Clara. Stan has lack of appetite. He walked twice around the ICU unit today. He will remain in ICU a little longer since they are having problems regulating his heart rate. He still has the pacemaker they installed the day of surgery.

  10. I'm sure with a little pain medication and therapy, Stan will be back to a better self than before. I'm GLad to hear things went good and Stan is on the mend. I knew it scared him when I said I'd come down there and use his tongs to grab his toe to wake him up. Hang In there Stan - your on easy street now. JK

LOL.I told him what you said Jeremy and he replied with a serious tone....It wont work!! <_<
  11. Morning update: Just talked to Clara, The hospital said that Stan slept good last night. The chest tube and catheder came out this morning. Along with another IV. He was currently sitting up in a chair waiting for Physical therapy. Beginning to tolerate the pain a little better.

*This is Mary(Stan's oldest daughter) I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you that have been sending the prayers, well wishes and get wells. They have(the prayers & etc.)been highly appreciated through this whole ordeal. It is great to know that Dad has so many people that care about him and can take a few minutes out of their busy lives to say a little prayer for his speedy recovery. We have been letting dad know that all of you are thinking about him, since he doesnt have access to a computer. And a thank you for the thoughts and prayers for Mom and the rest of the family also!!

  12. Update: Clara talked to the nurse at the hospital. As of 8pm, Stan was still sitting up in his chair(napping). He seems to be tolerating the pain a little bit better. Physical therapy apparently went well, the current nurse wasnt certain how far Stan managed to walk. Clara will contact the hospital in the morning for another update. Will post as soon as we hear more.

  13. Update: As of 9:45am, Stan is partially awake. Saying a few words. Highly medicated. The trach tube came out and one of the tubes in the groin. The bleeding has finally stopped. But when the medical team lowers his bed to lie him down, his blood pressure bottoms out. Hoping to remove more tubes later today. Just seen him a few minutes ago, he said "he isnt much fun today" and that "he doesnt want to move much today".

  14. Update on Stanley: He got out of surgery around noonish. They successfully removed the anerysm. They successfully replaced his valve. He did require 2 pints of blood, 2 pints of platletes and some frozen cells also. He is currently in ICU. If things go well they might start waking him up this evening or tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts! Keep them coming as he remains in ICU and throughout recovery.

  15. Update on Stanley: As of 10:44 am, the anerysm had been removed and the surgical team is looking for other damages and then will replace his valve with an artifical one from a bolvine. His valve could not be saved. The doctors said another possible 2 hours or more of surgery.
