  1. Hello Drako, I'm not a senior member here on the Forum, but it looks like you have a tremendous amount of support. No one that's honest with themself gets anything out of sh--ting on anyone else's dreams. Nor do I think anyone here would lie to a younger person only to be fooling one's self. Blacksmithing that does bring in income whether hobby or full time is backed by quite a bit more equipment costs and acquired skill costs than what's on the surface. Education, skills, and equipment all take a substantial portion of one's lifespan to pay for and gather. If ironwork would pay for college it would be coming out of a shop backed up by long earned financial buildup and develpement. That kind of earning power doesn't happen on start-up. Start slow, practice patience, maybe find a related job in a welding shop to help get started and pay for some classes. Make your decisions with a time built arsenal of knowledge and equipment. Careers go a bit easier with a little more preparation. We all want you to succeed. Good luck
  2. The one thing I kind of like about the Anyang and Striker hammers is the cast iron construction. It seems like old technology, but some of the best industrial machinery in the world has been made with cast iron frames. Bridgeport milling machines are just one example. Alternative methods for manufacturing machines such as steel plate welded or bolted assemblies aren't always cheaper nor guarantee a stronger structural integrity. I think with the rising cost of USA life and products, the china cast iron hammers will live to sell for a while. Spears
  3. I'm in line (and there probably is one!) to buy one of these in the fall. I've beat the internet to death on power hammer brands, prices, applications, etc etc. The Anyang 33 appears to be a winning product for the money.
  4. With the way people are moving out of Michigan, you will have no trouble finding a place to live. In fact, if your buying a house you WILL get a very good deal. I escaped Michigan five years ago. Lived there all my life. As long you have employment, you will find anything you want there. There was an ad placed a year ago for a Big Blue power hammer in Pontiac. Priced very nicely too. Good luck!
  5. Now that's a fellow that has some equipment....and USES it! I can' wait to get a power hammer. I hope some more people show some pictures of what they do with these things. Thanks for the pics! Spears
  6. Hello All, I'm new to the forum and I must admit after all I've read and looked for videos, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about how good tire hammers really work. I'm going to buy a power hammer later this year and I've come down to the Anyang 33 or a KA75. Mainly for the cost and effectiveness. I'm leaning heavily towards the Anyang because I built a 50lb treadle that does work for certain single strike duties and some drawing. All the information you people provide is extremely helpful to aid in making choices about equipment. Thank you. Maybe someday a tire hammer video will reveal itself on you tube! Spears
