  1. I appreciate all the feed back fellas. The photo down the chuck is dead on, I could see how someone could interpret that I took at a angle but it is straight. I will look into taking to a machinist and see if they can mode for a Jacobs chuck. I do not think the spindle is hard to remove. I’ll just have to find out all the costs. Thanks!
  2. If you look at the fourth picture down the old chuck the is a small boar hole. I think someone tried to widen the hole but made it off center. I’ve tried a Jacobs chuck in the past but the “new off set boar hole” is about 5/8 of a inch making it very wide. I’ve thought about taking to a machines but the only thing I can think of is that the make the of center boar hole even bigger. It is a very nicely painted post drill I may just sell it and hope some appreciates the look of it over the function.
  3. Hello, looking for my Buffalo drill post No65R. When ever I put a bit in the chuck it is a bit off center and has a slight wobble to the drill. I’m looking for any advise of where to purchase a new shank or if there is a chuck/adapter for this drill. Anything would be helpful.
  4. My Dad has finely let me have his anvil he bought at a garage sale in the 90s. I have not been able to identify the only markings are a star and the number six. It does have great rebound. I’m hesitant to wire brush the old paint and rust off because it got a lot of sentimental value to it. Not very heavy either. Let me know what you guys think.
  5. For more pictures what angles or views would you like to see? Thank for helping with the date. Do you think this was made in England and shipped over?
  6. Thanks For all the help. No more marking other than in the ones I posted. I wasn’t sure if Peter Wrights had serial numbers like a Trenton.
  7. Hey Team, I have this anivl and found a 13 on the feet.. not sure what that means so here looking for help. Also I believe this anivl from the marking is 114 lbs? Another thing because it doesn’t have an England wrap on it I believe it’s from 1910s? Any help is appreciated!
  8. Or does anyone have any recommendations to get the rusted fan off of the shaft?
  9. Thank you all for the support just got back into town and trying another go in this. Do you mean the fan portion comes off. Mine seems to be rusted on perhaps?
  10. Hi Team! I got one of these when I bought an anivl off of a guy in Northern California. The fan does not engage when I crank the handle. How do I get the gear box off? I’ve taken all screws off but I don’t want to do anything with forth. I figured I’d consult the Team first.
  11. Do you have a picture you can post? I checked Grizley vises and could not find it.
  12. It surprisingly turns and moves very smoothly. The only thing is when I want to expand the jaws further I have to move a huge pin at the bottom. Good idea with the vise/anvil combo!
  13. Hi I acquired a massive mill vise. When I mean massive... it ways about 150 lbs. The width of the jaws 8 inches and opens to over a foot. I cannot find any marking of what model or brand it is. So that’s why I’m here.
  14. Search Essentail Craftsman on YouTube. He has great black smithing videos, plus a great deal of knowledge on other craftsman related topics. Out of all my years watching YouTube his channels and videos are simply the best, start in the beginning years.
