A bolt of lightening hit so close to the house out in the woods the instantaneous clap of very loud thunder rattled the windows, convinced Axle and I to retreat into the house

one time me and some friends were messing around on the baseball Dimond and we had a strike that hit close enough to stand your hair on end.

last year I was pressure washing a piece of equipment during a rain shower when we had a lightning strike that I am certain was under 1 km away, the silo they stored the cement powder was pouring dust through the vents because of the shock wave, way too close for comfort

a problem I had last night was that the brass screws are snapping before they get tight I pre-drilled to the specs on the package for hardwood (3/32nds) and it is drilled deeper than the length of the screw i had the clutch on the drill at 4 so it should have been low torque.

Does a punch needs to be hardened?

someone will probably come along and quote a source but my understanding is that tools used for hot work don't get hardened because their use tempers them to a point where the hardening is lost, cold chisels on the other hand would be hardened

just my understanding of the little I've read

  6. njanvilman every time you post I know I will get a case of anvil envy but this one takes it to a new level.

Thank you for rescuing all these timeless artifacts. If only each one could tell their story...

  7. Thomas if i was closer i would enjoy being a minion and a remover of unneeded tools i am certain i could put them to great use:D

on the other hand I hope you are around to use them for many more years

  8. thanks all

George I didn't think of that, as I would've considered it Cultural Appreciation as it is recognizing a landmark, but I guess these days even if you don't offend the people its concerning someone else will be offended for them

messing around online the closes thing I could find was a Tundra Mountain ranch in Colorado. I checked on the BC name request registry and there was 24 names coming up that started with Tundra but nothing close, for some reason if I turned it from ironwork to blacksmith or blacksmithing they turned up no similar results. also found I could end it with "Co."

thus there is in my mind now preferred ideas, though I prefer the first i am open to others ideas.

  9. so i was looking at a map book near an area that I had been in and noticed this place thought it was an interesting place

    IMG_0841.thumb.JPG.b0ad0da9dd821d877ab9206f122f6712.JPG

this got me thinking that perhaps my name choice of Two mountains Ironwork which was meant to be describing an imaginary point in my mind but i recently found that that is the translation of a town in Quebec (Deux-Montagnes) so I decided to think of a Place that holds more significance to me while still keeping the touchmark so my mind when to my grandparents ranch at the base of the Ilgachuz Range so I decided to have a look and the closest peak in that system is Tundra Mountain.

now the reason I posted all this is I'm trying to decide between Ilgachuz Range Ironwork or Tundra Mountain Blacksmithing both which turn up nothing close in web searches
