  1. Old thread, but it sparked an idea... my drill press / table saw / etc woodworking do-it-all has a set of retractable casters on either end that might be suited to the task. Not gonna link to the commercial website, but if you google "mark V retractable casters" you can take a look at what I'm talking about - there should be a way to DIY something similar on an anvil stand.
  2. Hey y'all! Been wanting to get into blacksmithing for quite some time now; recently I visited the good folks up at the Foothills of the Carolinas Blacksmith Guild and they let me play with their toys and forge my first copy of ye olde leaf keychain... so naturally now I'm hooked. Since that meetup last month I've slapped together a two-firebrick forge and put my grandfather's old anvil on a terribly amateurish stand, and just last night hammered out my second leaf. (I'm sure the neighbors were thrilled.) Only about 4,998 of those little guys left before I get good at them!
  3. I just dug this old warhorse out of the rapidly deteriorating remains of my grandfather's old shed. Knowing Papa, he found it cheap somewhere back when they were still shoeing horses at the farm - which was before I was born. Mouseholes not pictured. Next step, a stand for it!
