  1. That is also very interesting. Also thinking it might actually be "and" instead of "then"... "and" makes the phrase easier to say out loud...
  2. I also took a class with Mark Aspery! He taught me to forge and heat treat a 4140 cold chisel and cleaned up my hammer swing! (I was questioning my own memory of his saying this rhyme but only for the last quarter) "If the Blacksmith will, a keen edge win; he must forge thick, then file thin." (the only thing I can't 100% remember is if he said "and" instead of "then".) Anyway, this version scans and has a pleasant flow and it's how I remember Mark saying it. Have a good one brother! Noah Cool to learn some history of this pleasant little phrase, thank you brother!
  3. Only one motor, the other thing is a transmission (hi/lo I think). The transmission is connected to a drive spindle in the front, which is unlike most grinders I've seen with the drive wheel in the back... Thanks for replying.
  4. First thing I looked for, no ID. That's why I posted this. Only reason I bought it it was that they were asking for less than the 2hp Baldor it has, costs used.
  5. Thanks for the replies my dudes! I have already spoken with Vintage Axe Works and Red Label Abrasives, both were unfamiliar with the machine. Several proprietary cast iron pieces also lead me to believe this was not a home built rig.
  6. Howdy! Was lucky enough to find this beast for a song but, whoever had it before me took off any identifying information. Anybody ever seen one of these? Anybody know the deal with the fat hollow pulley in the back left? Anyway, need to replace a synchronous drive wheel, and belt from the motor to the transmission... Any information will be greatly appreciated, I've been searching for weeks now... Thank you for your time!
