Yeah, I need scroll tongs or to make some scroll pliers. I got it over a little on the anvil but it just wasn't wanting to curl for me. I need to make some good tongs for small stuff like that, the v bits I have are old and need a new rivet. They hold half inch or bigger stock.

Via the hole I drilled. I'm not that great at this style yet, I prefer making them with the build in nail. Although it's the best I've done like this.

Forged a wall hook today. The top twist went a little tight. I brass brushed it also.

That's the guy I got the hammer and axe from. I got lucky and found the cross pein and it wasn't $50 but $10. He wanted $15 for the axe but I offered 20 for both. You see the Wilton bullet vise he wanted $600 for? That's crazy, if people buy them for that then I got one for sale right now. And the $1200 anvil that have half inch gouges in the face several inches long.

I saw those tongs there but I couldn't see me needing a pair that big. Lol

I doubt I'll make it tomorrow, I'm definitely coming up for the summer one in August though. And thanks for the info gazz

Hey Jim, it was nice meeting you. Sorry I didn't come back by the shop. I came with my mom, grandma, girlfriend, brother and his girlfriend. The heat started getting to them before I made my second loop around the flea market. I was able to find a few things thought. Finally got my hands on some dividers and a camp axe. Not entirely sure what the thing at the bottom is though, my mom got it for me she said the guy said it's for saws, almost looks like something to punch out saw teeth. I've got about $30 in all of it, did my best haggling but some people just like to say "look online and see what you'd pay" it's ridiculous. It's a flea market.

I didn't know there was another member in the area up there. I stay right on the border in WV.

I'm not gonna take 40, gonna come up the back way through carmicheals. I was already tipped off on that one.

So there's a thing called the National Pike Steam horse and gas show or something like that. I just heard of it a few months ago but they have a flea market and the site says they have a "working blacksmith". My mom says she saw it on HGTV once too. I'm hoping for some good finds. It's tomorrow and Sunday. I'll probably post some stuff from my phone through the day.

Looks like one of the small adzes I saw in a video about coopering, one of the older more "primitive" tools they have replaced with things that look like weird half sideways rounded planer. I saw all kinds of things I'd never heard of or seen in that video.

How did you get the right angles? I'm guessing the angle is whats marked on the tool? All I could figure is using a mill. At least to get perfect angles.

Frosty, that looks like one I just saw on blacksmithing joeys YouTube. Hi May have been bigger though. I do like the idea of spring fillers though but the guillotine just seems "neater" or "fancier". I will probably start with a spring fuller or two and just make a guillotine in time. Might start making some since my fingers messed up. I think I can forge with it but I wanna give it a good week or more before I even try. Fabricating should be fine though.

My uncle was gonna be using some if it for something with his tow truck or something. He has one of those old school tow trucks.

So my uncle got this from my late grandfather's house. He thought it was stainless since it wasn't rusted bUT was with a bunch of rusted steel. He says it's extremely difficult to drill and when using a torch it throws a lot of metal. The holes in it were made with 7mm mag. He says it doesn't spark hardly at all from a grinder either. Any general ideas? If it helps my grandfather was a machinest and probably got this from work.

Lol, I thought about it but I think it'll be alright with some butterflies and gauze. It hurts like crazy to move the flap of skin though. After having to pull gauze out that bonded from the liquid band aid it was even worse. Maybe not so bad tomorrow.

I was meaning like how the smithing magician has the front as one solid piece with the big square hole in it to run stock through. The bottom one seems like the easiest to make for me. I've seen the top one and I think I'd make it crooked welding it one way or another.

They don't have the butterfly bandages at the local dollar general. Or at least not in stock. First thing I looked for. So until I can get to town to get some I've just been doing my best to keep it closed.

I've got a stick and a cheap 120v mig. I'd like to make one like the smithing magician but idk how I'd cut the holes in the plates. How much do shops charge for something small like that usually? id also like to just bolt it together to be able to used different size tools, just change spacers out.

So I've been looking up guillotine tools. I'd like to make one but I'm not so sure I'm comfortable enough with my skills to make one that works really well. Any designs you guys have made that are easier or harder? Not even that I need one but it seems it would be super handy when an occasion arises.

Shh, it was the mallet. My reverse drawing technique is perfect. So the wood is cursed obviously....

Yeah, I only used a little of the liquid stuff to try and keep it close cause I didn't want stitches. I definitely won't do that again cause it hurt so bad going on and coming off. I've got some of the good pain relieving antibiotic ointment. Used peroxide and iodine earlier to clean it up. I'll be applying ointment and new bandages twice a day cause I don't want to lose the tip of my finger to infection. To think making a wooden mallet could be so painful.

Yeah, I was even thinking about not slipping right before it happened. I usually don't hurt myself other than little bumps and scrapes. Just goes to show you can never be too careful. I don't think I've ever had any serious working related accidents to think of actually. This is the worst. I'll try and keep it that way. I didn't do any serious though. The scar may make the finger look weird though. It really only hurt changing the first two bandages. The first from blood sticking. The second because I used liquid bandaid and it stuck the gauze inside the cut. It took thirty minutes to get out.

That is insanely awesome. I had a cheap telescope my parents got around the early 2000's. Definitely couldn't have done anything this cool with it though. I'll have to look into getting one.

And here I thought I hadn't got it sharp enough. I was trying to use it away from me to not have to flip the entire piece of wood in the vise to get the end. Not really even sure how this happened. Gonna wear gloves next time I guess.
