I am making a copper chalice and ciborium for a Catholic Mass to be celebrated during a mission trip. I am concerned about the possibility of copper tainting the wine.
1. Is my safety concern valid? Do I need to use a protective coating?
2. What food safe coatings can I use and where can I get them? (My searches so far have not been fruitful.)
3. I am not comfortable with my skills to purchase silver and gold, so the next possibility is pewter. If you recommend I use food grade pewter, is there a special way I need to forge pewter?
