  1. Hey guys and gals- I'm visiting my father for the Christmas and New Year's break, I work at a college as a cook, and he has ask that when I get home maybe I could make him some gouges and chisels. Material wise I am good, I was simply wondering if anyone might have a reference point for the different shapes I should provide for a basic set of chisels and gouges Perfreable in illustration or pictoral form. So if anyone does, please post it for me. thanks always, Joshua Langfitt
  2. I didn't get anything bs related, however i gave out a buncha hooks, candel holders, and several diferent candy dishes. All made by yours truly! It all was recceived very well! So what did you guys give in return for all that loot?
  3. Is there any reason why a person should not use plywood in the construction of the top, bottom, and center boards rather than the lamanated board shown in both the blueprint on bellows?
  4. Folks I was asked IF I could cast a small cannon from brass. By small I mean just big enough to shoot a golfball useing black power and a fuse. I envision casting a solid peice of brass in to a vauge cannon shape and then machining the bore. Any Ideas on what all I need to research to get started and do this with the least amount of oppertunities to have massive pain and or loss of life and limb? Including the mandatory tools to pull this off, cause it really intrigues me. Thanks Joshua aka dragonboy
  5. Thanks for the Ideas Glenn! Btw on the tshirt... so far all I got was a snotty little 25yr old wench asking what I produce, and then walking off in a huff whenI told her. :?
  6. Last night as I sat infront of the TV my daughter was watching me put the viens in a little copper ivy leaf ( cold of course). I turned my back to answer the Phone and she had picked up the rubber mallet and punch I'd been useing. I was amazed at the coordination she exhibited in "chiseling" her mothers coffe table. I had not realized she'd been watching me that closely, as she was hitting precisely the same way I had been! Needless to say I got chewed for just standing with my mouth open as Tatianna worked the hammer instead of taking it away from her! Boys I think I got a natural on my hands, but I'll find out fer sure when she gets a bit older.
  7. Since this blueprint was made I have played with design a bit. Now my wife wears one rose stick and a stick with a rose leaf on the end. On the size dia. : For good sticks, 1/8" is about the smallest I could get and it's hard to work anything smaller, unless your FAST! If you've any more questions, just ask me! Email is dronoven@yahoo.com.
  8. In this time of Crisis I went home frustrated yesterday at the stupidity of Mankind, and taped to the front door was a omnious piece of white plastic. Upon further investigation I discovered that it was indeed a preggy test... With two stripes in the indicator. When I revealed my ignorance of such omens to the DG she laughed and stated,"Well silly, it means I'm Pregnant!" Oh what power That statement has. I was completely pole axed....Now I know GOD has definately got a sense of humor! BTW my first born turns 1 yr old the 5th of this month  Ya'll becareful out there now. Also be careful of how much good smelly stuff you apply after cleaning up, It Always Leads to Trouble! Joshua Langfitt
  9. Jim was the first man to actually respond to the questions I asked. Due to his diligence and patience I have been blessed with the oppertunity to enjoy this great hobby. I wonder how many of us can say that same thing. The man will live on in my memories for as long as I am able to smith, and I will pass the torch lit by him on to as many as will listen. Thank you Jim for everything. I guess the gates of heaven just needed to be repaired! Joshua Langfitt
  10. Very nice copper work as well. The dg had me try to do it in copper, as it is lighter weight. As I say TRY, mine didn't turn out nearly as nice! Good job Mr. Gold :)
