  1. The tractor will most likely lift it, however the bale spikes may not be up to the task.
  2. Welcome to IFI Jeffrey. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST Pictures of your anvil would help, also knowing where in the world you are located. Hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location.
  3. Good price especially if it still has propane in it. I just priced propane here for home delivery $.99 a gallon, haven't seen it that low in years. I need to order some tomorrow to top off our home 500 gallon tank and the shop 115 gallon tank. Probably need about 300 gallons.
  4. Yep, good find for 20 pounds Sterling (25.14 U.S. dollars). I think it is a machinist bench vise not a blacksmith leg vise. Still if it works it has many uses in the shop, just not made for heavy pounding on. Is there a name on it? How heavy is it?
  5. Ya in L.A. that wouldn't be out of place and with a Salsa beat it would go along with hammering.
  6. I drink a pot of coffee in the first hour of getting up and at least three pots all day long. Y'all are light weights.
  7. Yep, and build it with a ribbon burner so it doesn't sound like a jet plane taking off.
  8. You are right, I wasn't thinking, still milling it would more than likely do harm.
  9. It's not a Vulcan but can't tell who made it. The face plate is hardened steel forge welded on. I think any milling will do more harm than good. I would use it as is and make a plate that will go in the hardy hole for those rare times you need a sharp edge and on one edge I would grind in a radius . I'm guessing it's cast iron with a steel face plate. You could do a spark test under the horn to confirm that.
  10. You could put gozintas in the floor, with pins on the equipment to drop into them. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/62437-shop-layout-ideas/
  11. Looks like a jewelers bench anvil to me, no telling who made it though.
  12. Yep, you got it a cutlers hammer for sure.
  13. I would heat the U of the bracket and drive it back to hit the spring square/flat and use thicker stock for the spring.
  14. Albert Craven master blade forger retires. I think he used a hammer like that. (I just watched that again and he was using a dogs head hammer oh well still a great video.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpeyhC-UIFg
  15. Well Ralph hasn't been back since Sunday so I guess he isn't that interested.
  16. We won't remember this location once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show your location.
  17. About 3 min into the edited version, I turned it off due to the annoying music. I would rather listen to the shop sounds. We also don't have a clue as to where you are located, even though there was some speculation if I remember correctly. I did note the CNC section was edited out. The disclaimer needs to be on the video itself.
  18. How did your dad like it? I'll bet he will cherish it and use it often, I know I would.
  19. Not knowing where in the world you are located it's hard to give advice on where to obtain supplies. Hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST
  20. Also look for construction sites they will usually give you scrap cut offs, just don't use treated lumber.
  21. We won't remember that once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. Also that thread explains a lot about the forum like resizing your pictures and the use of the quote feature..
  22. Welcome Larry, have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST
  23. We have a club member who has his forge setup on a flatbed trailer pretty basic forge, slack tub, anvil, leg vise and work table. He sets up a 10X10 easy up for shade on it.
