  1. At 78 years old, I still have moments of less than optimal survival behavior and have the scars to remind me to wear PPE even for small projects.
  2. It looks a lot like a Buffalo Forge # 7 or 8. You might look in some of these old catalogs.
  3. I'm pretty sure the Peace Flower instructions on Ken's web site will apply to the Rose too.
  4. If you wanted to learn to drive would you be looking for a model T Ford in pieces?) ~ThomasPowers
  5. I'm sure the many female members we have will disagree with that and can hammer most of us into the ground.
  6. I have a traditional (to me) holiday greeting. However it's a little political and don't think it will fit on the forum. So I'll simply say, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.
  7. The main thing I have found is to have a good fit to your face of the mask under the glasses. Try some adhesive tape on that area.
  8. Actually by the CTW system 1.1.14 would be 154 pounds if my math is correct. If it's off by 30 pounds something is wrong. Pictures of your anvil will help.
  9. Crisp edges are a determinant to good forging, an anvil with rounded edges help prevent cold shuts. Cold shut — Also known as lap or fold. A defect such as lap that forms whenever metal folds over itself during forging
  10. That is about the ugliest knife I have ever seen.
  11. A good review. The only thing I see is it could use some adjustable doors (insulated fire brick) front & back to increase the heat and lower the fuel consumption.
  12. Once the burner is in the forge, you may have to tweak it a little more. But like Mikey said it looks good to me.
  13. I think they were sold through Winder Merchant & Steel Sheffield England.
  14. Or spikes like these took all of ten min. Also setting the anvil in latex calking compound will help hold it down.
  15. I too would love to see a thread about your step by step build, of course with a lot of pictures.
  16. Not to belabor the point, but this is from Lincoln Electric. Maybe overseas the wire is different than here in the states.
  17. That's the main thing, it's supposed to be fun then all of a sudden the light bulb comes on.
  18. I have repaired several wind chimes like that. We have some that came with monofilament holding the tubes that didn't last very long and we really liked the tone of them. The repairs have lasted for probably 20 years now.
  19. They came to fruition in a very nice portfolio. I really like it and can see more uses than just in the blacksmithing world.
