  1. Ok think I found an answer in þh blade form too much o2 while heating to temp so I will try a higher banked coal fire and easy on the air so if that helps thanks
  2. Yes did this happen because I did not brushes it off between the coal forge and the veggie oil or was it a temperature issue ?
  3. Have made a knife out of an old semi spring and did a hand filed profile on the blade . Once I heat treated it I ended up with this scale paternity in the steel
  4. So finished knife 4 and 5 tonight mistakes and all ... Skinner of my own design made from a lawn mower blade and the bowie is a 9.5inch blade made from a 1.5 inch section of a truck spring
  5. Right handed but seems to balance out the workout on my arms never thought about doing it that way . Ànd the stove pipe is at least 6' on the outside . Once it is going works ok it was one of those this is what I have how do I make it work projects

Hello all I am a 50ish newbie have been toying with my forge for almost a year with a 4 month break this summer wind storm sent my shelter into wheat field next to me ànyhow I've produced a few items and yes some knives too and if I am àm not in my smithy I am thinking about what I can make lol I am an addict
  7. Seems OK but yes the arms / legs could stand to be shorter didn't have the bottle in the smithy with me at the time
  8. First try at this saw it on the Internet and thought I would try it out made from rebar on my coal forge for the sister in law
