  1. I just finished watching this, and it was impressive. Great camera work, and they give a detailed step by step description of the process. They have a fundraising campaign going on now for a new instructional film on forge welding, looks like it will be well worth it.
  2. This is the last stop. Some works at the Cooper Hewitt show were only shown there, as well as some exclusive pieces in the Cleveland show. The paperback edition of the book is $40 if you want to see it all.
  3. If you live within a days drive of Cleveland, do yourself a favor and go see the Jazz Age Exhibition. Works by Edgar Brandt, Samuel Yellin, Paul Kiss, and Rose Iron Works are on display. It was magnificent, and it ends on Jan 14, so get your tickets today! You are able to get up close and personal (but no photos within 3 feet please) and see the methods and techniques used on some of the worlds best decorative iron work.
  4. I had originally planned to place a flat piece of sandstone underneath the base, but I think I like your idea better. I'll mention it to my friends when they come to pick it up.
  5. I welded in the scrolls on the back side. It was the easiest way to join everything together and provide enough strength.
  6. I worked from my own drawings /design. I just gave it a pickle and it will rust on its own.
  7. Finally took the plunge and got set up to forge metal this spring. I've been working metal for a while, but never over an anvil. A friend commissioned this anniversary gift, and I finally got it finished. It's a waterfall trellis, about 68" tall made mostly of 1/2" square bar.
