  1. My first try at the Dragon's Scale style. I think it's pretty cool.
  2. I actually did this yesterday along with a couple rebar snakes and the start of a cable Damascus blade. I call it 'progress'... nature taking back from man.
  3. He actually picked up the bottle from my neighbor when she set it down! (It was empty) He was licking the top, and when I took the picture he looked up at me. Atticus actually has his own small couch in the shop. He lays on it and eats his various bones and antlers and things. He's very well behaved in there.
  4. Here's my shop dog buddy, Atticus. He LOVES going out to the shop!
  5. My latest table at the local sale... Next month is a big one for the holidays that I'm building up more stock for. I need to get the little stringed tags and put out some prices. I tried attaching a business card to each one with a price but the table just looked way too busy with all the cards!
  6. Nice looking goods tkunkel. Thanks for sharing the photos.
  7. I need a better way to present the necklaces. I don't like the thing I currently use. Its time to make something else. The shark.....well.... I was trying to make a trout! It's a bottle opener and it came out looking more like a shark than a trout! I wasn't even going to try to sell it and someone saw it and wanted it. It was the first thing I sold at the show! Crazy.
  8. Thanks.... I didn't get any good pics of the necklaces. They're bent hearts, Leaf pendants and Trolls Crosses...with a couple pf forged cable runes. You're stuff is awesome!
  9. My first ever show this last weekend went very well. I didn't know how my items would do but it turns out I was the most popular table/vendor at the show! These are from before opening on the first day. Now I'm busy making more for the next one.
  10. Yes, I've been over your entire site. I'll be contacting you as soon as I'm back from training Wayne. Thanks for the advice and comments everybody. Blackegg
  11. Wayne...can the Kast o' Lite be brushed on to the Kaowool inside on the sides and top or is it too heavy? From what I've been reading and seeing, I'm definitely going to be using it for a nice thick floor for the flux resistance but wanted to make sure it would be able to stick to the top and sides without falling off before hardening. My other option is to use the Kast o 'Lite for the floor and Satanite to cover the Kaowool on the sides and top. The whole interior will be coated with Metrikote from Wayne. Thank you, Blackegg
  12. Thanks Frosty, that's a good idea and I'll give it a try. If I build up the floor a little more it will make the opening smaller as well. I appreciate the advice. Thanks Wayne, I may just be looking into your supplies.
  13. Frosty, the opening is actually smaller than it looks in the pictures. By the time i get two layers of Kaowool in it and a coating of refractory, the opening will be approximately 6 inches in diameter. I will do some more research on floor materials. That's good to know about the fire brick. I've seen a lot of talk about the alumina kiln shelf, I'll look into this more. Thank you for the advice. Mikey, Ive done a lot of research on burners before building this one. I tried it out in another similar forge that has been finished and it definitely seemed to work well. It is identical to several burners I've seen for sale on various forge sites. At some point I'd like to make a second forge, one with two burners, out of a longer tank I have that is also smaller in diameter. I'll read some more in the burners 101 thread and see what I can learn there. What changes do you think would make it perform better? Ive seen your info about using something other than a drilled hole in the pipe, such as MIG tips etc.Maybe this would be something I could experiment with. I'm sure this being my first build will be a lot of trial and error with an ample amount of learning to boot! Thank you for the input, this is good information and appreciated.
  14. Very cool! Was this done by stock removal or forging? I'd like to try something like this as well. I saw where someone had made a small Viking axe using the open end of the wrench.
  15. Hey derek77, I'm not all that far from you really and I'm doing the same thing. I have the forge body built and the burner and have an anvil but have yet to buy the interior. I just posted a bunch of images a few posts up from this one. The burner is pretty easy really. I read a ton and watched a ton of videos. Literally for weeks before starting. I based mine off one of one of the ones on zoeller forge. I built the flare end using a friends forge. Wear protection when you prep the Kaowool and make sure you have food ventilation if you use it this winter in the garage! Good luck....keep us posted, I'd like to see how it turns out! blackegg
  16. I started with a small propane bottle and only have the interior to go now. Will be doing two layers of Kaowool with a rigidizer and a coating of ITC-100. I'll start with fire brick floor and worry about something more flux proof when I advance to that level. theres no opening in the back yet. I want to wait till I have the interior finished so I can make it level with the floor for pass-throughs as well as a vent. I used the circular cut out from the tank as a "foot" also using the collar that was around the nozzle of the tank as a cradle. I'll be getting a larger size propane tank for the fuel. I'll also pick up a 0-30 lb regulator. It is naturally aspirated with a #57 jet. Let me know what you think, Thanks.
  17. I recently picked up a 156 lb Peter Wright anvil and have a question about the markings. All of the PW anvils I see have PETER WRIGHT PATENT stacked with the Solid Wrought underneath in a circle. I understand later that added ENGLAND to the markings for exports. mine has PETER PATENT WRIGHT stacked, with the Solid Wrought underneath. Is this a misprint? Is it possibly a fake? I don't know a lot about them and figured someone here may have insight as to why the WRIGHT and PATENT on mine are switched. has anyone else seen this? thanks.
  18. That's beautiful Heap... I love it
  19. It's an old cobblers shoe form/shoe mold.
  20. 300.00 and the seller delivered it to me and even carried it to my porch from his truck! from what I've been reading, it feels like a good deal. Just under $2.00 a lb.
