  1. thanks ! and how very true !! more to come soon... JT
  2. I just bought this one today for $195.00 rolls over very smoothly .. JT
  3. I will get better photos and actual measurements.. I looked at it at the action preview and didn't want to attract attention to it so it was just a casual passing.. seemed larger then most I've seen.. still questioned the 13" X 17" stated size, so I called the auction house today and asked for measurements this is what a kid told me today.. the top measures 12 1/2" X 7" and 12 3/4" tall.. not quite 13" X 17" ?? but still a little larger then most I've seen pop up.. most I've seen seem to be around 6" X 10" and less the 12" tall. I'll pick it up either Thursday evening or Saturday morning, clean it up and see what I can find and get correct measurements and a weight on it and better photos.. thanks, JT
  4. I bought it at a small local on-line auction and once I saw it listed I went and looked at it at a pre auction preview to get a true idea of the size.. I personally didn't measure it but that's the auctions or sellers measurements its WAY Larger then it looks ...
  5. I just won this Saw Makers Anvil at auction.. its much larger in person then the photos indicate .. the photos aren't very good and I don't have it in my possession yet, probable won't until Saturday to look it over better.. Its quite tall not sure of the exact height or weight and measures 17" X13' so its pretty heavy.. I don't see any online that really look exactly it.. from the photos does anyone have any ideas of the maker ?? I will show more photos of it once I get it home.. thanks, JT
  6. being there weren't that many Arm & Hammer Anvils manufactured compared to other manufactures.. any ideas of how many could have been marked " Bullock H. Channon Co. Chicago " ??
  7. those are the only photos I have of it right now, he came down from $1000 but I don't think he will come down any more.. he's now at $3.50 a lb. were many of these A&H's marked this way ?
  8. Any thoughts about this Bullock H. Cannon Co. Chicago Anvils value ?? its 200 lbs. made by the Columbus Anvil and Forging Company. the seller will take $700.00 for it.. thanks, JT
  9. Ohhh ... I got ya !! yeah that's crazy !! must of been a lot of force to do that !! that's to bad .. I would have passed on that as well..
  10. njanvilman said the jaws on these vises were originally welded on from Fisher .. I can see where mine are welded .. he said this is correct and the way they were made.. those on the one you were looking at are probably factory correct ... JT
  11. Hello njanvilman !! I've wire wheeled and cleaned that area but see no signs of a date on this one.. JT
  12. I'm not sure yet.. I cleaned it a little to see it better, mostly just built up layers of old oil .. might just wire wheel and oil it. or just leave it as is.. it defiantly won't rust !! lol
  13. I bought it from a retailer in Austria .. I got it added to a large shipment coming over so I got a much better deal on shipping. all in all still much cheaper then I could have ever gotten one this size here.. about $3.80 a lb. JT
  14. jlpservicesinc by this photo it looks like 1 1/2" its 14 1/2" tall and 30 1/2" long .. JT
  15. been waiting since late January ... here now and in route .. should be here tomorrow .. 573 lbs. !!
  16. well I brought it home today !! now that I can get a better look at it its actually a #4 and has 6 1/4" jaws not 6 1/2" and weights 120lbs. on my bathroom scales ( must be getting weaker feels much heaver.. lol ) still heavy though.. jaws look good and have good serration still , I can't see a date although it could still be hiding under some grime.. on the front it looks to have possibly said " Fisher " and under that maybe a design ( possibly the eagle ? ) and under that " Norris " then up and down under that it says " Trenton " JT
  17. Hi John, thanks, I was going to pick it up today... but looks like Saturday morning !! JT
  18. I googled Wilton Power Screw Vise and there is a site ( Popular Science-Jul- 1967- Page 146- google book result ) this shows a drawing of a cut-a-away showing the inside and telling a little about it... not much.. but at least a look at the internals .. it won't let me copy it so you will have to look it up.. JT
  19. HaHaHa !! good one !! unfortunately I once got caught up in a auction on eBay for a antique bicycle part.. waiting for the last second to put a high bid in figuring no one would get over me... but as luck would have it so did "Jessie James" (antique bicycle owner and motorcycle fabricator) at the same time... only mine was a larger number WOW !! what a slap in the face that was !! it took a while to get over that one.. lol thanks !! I'll probably go pick it up Thursday or Saturday .. JT
  20. Okay ! thank you all for enlightening me about the 3 leg stands ! I guess my hesitation was unwarranted .. all your experiences have proven that... I will look into changing my coarse.. JT
  21. oops ! ouch, that can hurt !! lol thanks for the info.. JT
  22. well.... I didn't say I didn't get it !! lol I did !!, just not for $83.00 lol.. I decided to go for it after you said the were going for quite a bit ..
  23. Thanks C-1ToolSteel ... I thought I had it at $83.00 until the last 45 minuets !! lol JT
  24. Hello Wayne ! thank you for your input it is well taken.. I see many are going to the 3 legged stands.. I hear positive things about them.. but I have been a bit skeptical of them only because everything I have had that was of that design wasn't to stable and seemed to tip over quite easily.. from 3 legged forge blowers to 3 wheel motorcycles !! lol do you find your anvil wanting to tip over ?? JT
