  1. I text him introducing myself but no I didnt call him,ill have to call tommorow I suppose
  2. Cool, thanks frllas, I still need to email the forge council to find coal but otherwise I guess Im going to trade day haha
  3. haha, smarta**. I have several pairs of slip-jaws, and thanks for the scrap list! I'll post my results once I get my forge running, thanks for all the help fellas it's greatly appreciated. and my font changed, sorry haha
  4. Well there's my problem, I'm not able to find anything long enough :/ and I'm not sure what items I would look for. I have plenty of very long Bolts, saw blades, and the like. but I cant work metal while its hot enough to work AND hold it. Though, like I said I don't know what or where I can find long metal, also bear in mind i am using a Brake Drum forge, nothing huge. and I meant find/buy them not build tongs.
  5. So this is my progress so far, took a little bit of modification but she's ready to forge. Ive got some metal but im still needing Coal and Tongs And of course it rotated the picture, why not. God this phone is crap
  6. Found a couple toolheads gor a couple Hoes, and a Hook that I believe is Iron, has a real dull sound to the hook. The guy told me he has lawnmower blades laying around somewhere and that he'll call me when he finds them. Also just got all the parts for my Forge excluding my Coal, and a hairdryer I'll try to see who's open today while Im cruising around
  7. If im looking at metal how do i tell what it is? Is there a test i can do, as in a sound or something if I hit it?
  8. Alright, so where are the best places for a high school student to find scrap to repurpose, as in go look for, or to buy real cheap, scrap yards?
  9. Thanks admin I was thinking, and if im not wearing gloves or using tongs, how do I pick up the other end of a yellow glowing hunk of steel? Doesnt heat travel to the metal as a whole, making the non-fired end very hot?
  10. Also, Admin could you change the post title to have "in Ashville Alabama" at the end?
  11. Alright cool, so I drew these plans up at work, I have bad handwriting
  12. Oh okay cool, so basically im ready to go except Coal, my pipes, and a hair dryer. Awesome Speaking of which, where do I buy coal?
  13. uh, why was I given a warning for saying Hxxx? And I would definitely travel a little to provide extra hands and learn me something, or just travel to have someone learn me something, though nothing more than 50 miles if it's just going to be like an hour of learning haha. also what kind of gloves are those heavy gloves I see people working metal wear? How to edit the header?
  14. Here is what I have so far, the brake drum on it's back(?) with the open area toward us, is the real rusty one. and the other is in much, newer condition. and I have 1 8 oz Ball-Peen, a 24 oz Ball-Peen, and a (24 oz???) Cross-Peen. which came from an Auto-Body shop and may I say, works great at pounding on your dented bumper.
  15. Cool, thanks for the invite but I may not be able to make that considering it is the day after my graduation. But I'll be xxxx bent on trying to get there. And as for the water and all, with the forge that looks like a gold tumbler filled with dirt almost, is water required there as well? And what is the water pipe used for, as in why is it there at all? I suppose a really mean cup of coffee could be made but otherwise I don't quite understand why it is a material like PVC, and im also not too sure what a Tuyere is.
