  1. Thanks. The figure was forged out of 1/2"x1.5" ended up about 6.5" tall. The core are 1.750" dia. x about 6"long. The base was about 4" square.
  2. I thought that statement might create some discussion. Think of all the "lost treasure" that might be found!
  3. Made this for a friend of mine several years ago. The figure was split and forged, the load is concrete cores from a railing installation, tied with ss wire. I called it "The Boss", his kids call it "Dad"
  4. Very nice pics. I really like the wheels, and anvil tables from Jakesshop pics. Hope everyone is noticing all the stuff that has casters on the bases. They make moving things around very easy, and really help when you get ready to clean the shop.
  5. Yep , always heard poor boy's got poor ways. Here's one I threw together out of an old shop stool and some scrap lumber, just to get by for awhile… in 1987. Still can't figure out why pics are sideways, sorry.
  6. THAT is a truly impressive anvil stand. As well as the rest of the shop.
  7. Very nice, hope every notices the swage block stand also. Here's the stake stand pic. Sorry about the sideway pic. Face 32" high, stand 12" sq. base, 20" high
  8. Two, nice workable stands. Don't think I've ever seen a anvil welded at the waste before. The stake stand looks good. When it gets light I'll take and post a pic of a fabricated stake stand I made several years ago. But for now, here's my #2 stand. It was made in a weld shop where a meeting was held years ago. I bought it when he closed his shop down. Not sure why it's sideways.
  9. Hi Blackclaw 83, new myself. Where are you from?
  10. I hope the long time IFI members will forgive me if this has been covered, but I thought pictures of different anvil stands might be helpful for beginners. The anvil I use the most is a plywood box, filled with sand. Anvil sits on a piece of plywood and space between the feet of the anvil and top of the box fills up with scale. Very solid, doesn't move or bounce, very quite while forging. I have 4 others,if there is any interest, and I'm sure there are a lot of good ideas out there.
  11. Hello Steven, I'm new to IFI also. When your in Memphis, take time to visit the "Metal Museum" phone 901 774 6380. It will be well worth your time.
  12. Forged legs & frame by me, for fused glass table top by N.C. in Mi.
  13. Athens Forge of Alabama Forge Council will be working on poppies Sat. 23erd 10 AM. Check athensforge.com for location.
  14. Very Nice. I've worked with glass blowers and fused glass artist on some projects, but we were always in our separate studios. Always thought there would be a lot of " crossover" techniques working with iron and glass. But never had the opportunity to work with hot glass. Would love to try it someday.
  15. Thanks for the nice comments. The forge has had a fire in it the bellows work, but not as well as I would like. The vise opens and closes and the jaws line up, and are as wide as a dime.
  16. Hello Everyone I'm new to IFI. Recovering from shoulder surgery started making some miniature shop equipment. The set to date fits in a space 10"x 14". Does anyone else do stuff like this?
