  1. Thomas I detect a smidgen of Jersey attitude in your handling of PITAs. Dont ask me how I know about this stuff.
  2. i have always had good luck with PB Blaster.
  3. I have watched his slingshot videos. he makes some pretty powerful slingshots.
  4. Because of my back problems I've made mine 36" tall. The less I have to bend the happier my back is.
  5. Can you bore the wheel to 1 1/8 inches? If you have a lathe make an adapter 1 1/8" to whatever size the bore of the wheel is.
  6. The House brothers are genuine gunsmiths. They can forge their own barrels and locks. From what I can see this guy, Casey, buys commercial barrels and locks. I haven't noticed any boring or rifling machines. I have assembled a couple of flintlocks, but by no stretch of the imagination do I consider myself a gunsmith. I'll bet a flintlock firearm made in the traditional way would probably cost over $20,000 today.
  7. I will be praying for both of you. May God keep the both of you safe.
  8. My condolences Das. To this day I take the loss of a pet harder than the loss of a person.
  9. Heap of Jeep Having grown up in Jersey right across the river from NYC I have no trouble verbally putting someone in their place. To someone who told me that I was xxxxxx, I would tell them thank God I can't stand you on earth, why would I want to put up with you for eternity. That is a very cool looking Thor's Hammer.
  10. Wow as someone new to this I never thought about coal gas. I'm glad I joined this forum, it's a treasure trove of information. When I am able to swing a hammer again, hopefully in August according to the doc, I am going to remove the screw on ash dump and replace it with a flap style. Thanks
  11. I worked as a welder in a machine shop. We made parts for cement block making machines. The pieces that made the holes in the blocks were called cores. Four sides and a top. All the seams were welded up inside and out. We would wrap our lunch in foil and stick it inside of one of the just welded cores and keep stacking more cores around it. It was like using an oven.
  12. I'm jealous, I just had a vertebra fused in my neck and I am not allowed to touch a hammer until the end of July or beginning of August. I'm glad to see others enjoying. I guess i'll have to pound metal vicariously through everybody else here. That is a nice set up you have there.
  13. Slyfox I do my preliminary shopping either on the internet or the yellow pages, saves a lot on gas and time.
  14. Does everybody realize that magnetic north wanders over time. Just make sure that if you believe this make sure your quench tank is able to swivel.
  15. There is a show on TV " It Only Hurts When I Laugh". Almost every guy caught on film usually smashes his testicles. The only problem I see with that is they don'tsmash them hard enough to make them inoperable, so we are guaranteed another generation of nit wits.
  16. I have bought boots from Sportsmans Guide. They carry name brand and non name brand boots at reasonable prices. My last pair were Irish setters, I paid $89 for them, and yes they are made in China.
  17. I don't know if I want a 2.5 lb. hammer, it seems like they have a penchant for hitting your thumb!

    Vise ?

Just curious, has anyone tried naval jelly?
  19. You are one lucky fellow to have bought a Hay-Budden for $10. I bought a whole one that weighs 93 lbs. for $350. Congratulations .
  20. I have to laugh at the towns around here that make their residents recycle paper and cardboard. What about the jobs of loggers that are lost because less wood is needed to make pulp. I figure the cost of fuel for me to drive to the recycle center, the wear and tear on my vehicle, and my time, is too costly for us on a fixed income. My fix for this is to recycle paper products into smoke in the burner in my back yard. And NO I will not stop burning wood and coal, to supplement my oil burner.
  21. I have recently discovered one of the very few advantages of getting old. I can remember living in a politically Incorrect world, where things were actually made in the USA. Also there were some honest politicians.
  22. I have often wondered Why we can't send a diplomat to China, who speaks fluent Chinese, and have him explain the meaning of quality control to them.
