  1. Rolled a 4 Ben went into autopilot during the crash. He doesn't remember much of it, only brief flashes. Aaron yelling, the sudden crash, jumpinbg into the icy water, swimming towards shore and grabbing one fo the orange pack things. He starts to really regain himself when he notices what happened to Aarons leg. Clinton says he will handle it so Ben runs around trying to get as many of the packs as he can. He also is looking for the others to hlep them out. He turns on his ELT and begins helping as much as he can. He also ddrags all the supplies they have so far above the high tide mark.
  2. Guys I am no where near good at blacksmithing to be considering a profit margin. This is mainly just I want to take it out because Im curious. You all bring up some very good points. Ill have to think about what Im going to do. Here is a picture of it. Some of it is cut off by the picture. It ends in the ground burred on both sides.
  3. Ben takes brandon up on the offer for help with the rifle cleaning process, as he want to learn as much as possible about it. "You never know when you could possibly have to play an RPG about going on a hunting trip somewhere in Alaska and having to survive using blacksmithing, am I right?" He says to Ben while the talk. Once this is done Ben hangs out wiht the guiys for a while and then heads to bed.
  4. Hello everyone. I was walking around my property and I found something really cool. Where I lived used to be a railroad in the 1800s. However, during WW1 (i think) they ripped it all out since it wasn't being used. But earlier this week I found a small amount of track lying stuck in the earth. If I wanted to get some of this, how would I go about cutting it out? It is about a half mile along a little track and then maybe 300 feet into the woods. What do you guys recommend I use to cut it? Should I even bother? I was thinking maybe a portable thermic lance, like in this video. Ill post a picture of the track and where it is as soon as I get home.
  5. IRL i dont shoot much at all, so i really couldn't answer. Ben went to the range and listened very carefully to everything the instructors were saying. He saw how into everything brandon was, and was impresed. He tried his hand at shooting, which he did do frequently, but his dad took him out often enough for him to know his way around. Roll for how well he worked out.
  6. You could make the horse shoes into railroad spikes and the rail road spikes into horseshoes. Then repeat. Flawless plan right there.
  7. (sorry for being out of it, my internet has been down. Are we still on the same day as what was talked about, timezones are weird.) Ben decides that it would be a perfect chance to get to know some of the guys better and tags along with bruno to get a better rain jacket and one of the vests that Aaron recommended. He also picks up some ziploc bags to store some of his things in as waterproofing, such as his journal and other things. Ben and bruno get to talking and discover that both of them are interested and have been pursuing blacksmithing.
  8. Ben arrives and spends the limo ride listening. He knows that most of these people know more about this subject then him. He feels a little out of his league. But he listens closely and takes in all the information. He stores them away to figure out what else he needs to pick up. He has his knife in his pocket and his whistle around his neck. He is wearing work pants, boots, long socks, a wool shirt, and his coat. Everything else he has in his bag. He doesn't start many conversations, but adds input into one every once in a while.
  9. So when does this start up? Im having some internet problems, but it should be fixed today.

  13. would it help against the coal gas explosions?
  14. While on this subject, I saw someone run his ash dump straight down into a bucket of water, and the water acted as an air seal. What do you guys think of that?
  15. Hey Jim do you have any pictures for it? Im interested in seeing it to try and make one myself.
  16. While in Whitties Ben picks up some of the recommended camping gear, a dry bag, some food and water, a small two man tent, some paracord, a sleeping bag and a laminated map of the area. Oh, what time of year is it as well? Sorry If you've already mentioned it.
  17. Is there an easy way to make a flap style without a welder?
  18. Name: Ben Frank Age: 18 Height 5' 11'' Weight: 140 lbs Hair: Dirty Blonde hair, parted in the middle Eyes: Hazel Brief Backstory: Ben just graduated high school and is setting out to become an engineer in college. He lives in Main and isn't big into hunting. He likes to hike alot though, so has some idea on wilderness survival. He has always been into making things (hence wanting to be an engineer) and has taken up blacksmithing last year. He is still a novice, but knows his way a bit around a forge. He decided to take a break year after college, and his friend recommended he take a hunting trip to Alaska. So here he is Basic Equipment and EDC: Ben is relatively unprepared for being stuck out in the wilderness. He has a safety whistle that has a compass and a waterproof compartment with matches in it that he carries around his neck. He brought with him his EDC, an Ontario Rat 4 folding knife. And for a firearm he brought a 30-06 he borrowed form his dad.
  19. So do you want us to post our characters and equipment stuff here?
  20. Do you have any advice for making a character for us people who are new to this. Just give them a nickname and make them have certain characteristics? Is there any method you recommend to making them? I vote for the work boat. I think the animals that we would be surveying would be interesting as both dangers and potential food.
  21. I'm in for the next one, Or at least ill try
