Scoot the foulfarted

Do you still have the emerson anvil? After a few years of owning/working with it; what is your opinion of it now? Im thinking of buying one…this or the JHM…I like the emerson more because its “from” my home state. I’d really appreciate your feed back.

Hey man! Comment ca va! Im in Louisiana too…just on the west side (lake charles). If you live out east there’s a club (Louisiana metal smiths) or something like that; there is a website. In the heal of the boot, there isnt too much, they’re was a guy in kinder that was giving some classes through the local college here a few years back…be he was an old guy…might not be around no more sad to say. I’ve not seen anything advertised anymore. Anyway sounds like we have the same interest at heart…tools and cooking utensils.lol recently made a tripod and “S” hooks for cooking….lots of leaf hooks, some punches, and chisels out of S7 steel…and a lawnmower blade camp knife! Its pretty ugly though.lol Anyway nice to meet you…nice set up too! Im starting out too heres mine.

Man that some good advice thank you. I'll take it to heart, I do have a scrap yard near me, I'll check there for a nice chunk of hard metal and mount that sucker to a log..ill keep you all posted on the progress..the gathering phase begins!

Well nice to hear from you, yeah I work on that weekend too. I actually saw a guy today that had an old forge minus a blower in his back yard...had a flower pot on it.lol I'm gonna see if he'll sell. I'll be one step closer

I'm imtersted in making tools..like garden hoes, axes ,adze stuff like that. Really just learning about blacksmith ing and being proficient enough to make things I may need...I dunno kinda have one of those "callings" so to speak, feel the need to try it out and see where it takes me, I've always been fascinated by it and I ain't getting any younger. Hey man, where you from? I see there is a guild in Covington...that alittle bit away from me...you heard of it?

Hello, I live in lake Charles Louisiana which is on the south western side of the state. I am interested in blacksmithing and just need advice on pretty much everything. I need an anvil, forge ect. Does anyone recommend any particular brand for a beginner such as myself. I plan on using a coal forge with a hand crank blower. Anyway, I'll check back later any advice will be greatly appreciated.
