  14. just done that they are made of 1055 cast steel but regardless of that they are not made in australia they just cast it to look like they are that anvil is out of the question on ethical grounds still looking
  15. no thanks i will have a look fergy i have tried to find a contact for the Forge but no luck i thought it said QLD-AUST =Queensland Australia this is the other option http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coolangatta/collectables/antique-bradford-kendal-bk-sydney-australia-224-anvil-plus-/1082354373 but does the 224 indicate kg or pounds?
  16. well I just want to make 40 pound swords no seriously I don't know but I want to use it in my engineering workshop so im thinking the bigger the better but also I have no idea what a 110 kg anvil size is like in person i maybe able to make one by profiling 2 100mm thick plates and welding together with a 50mm piece of 780 gr plate on top but this does not give me a horn (pun intended) um WA as in Western Australia would like a nimba but freight may be expensive https://avwdirect.com.au/Hardware-and-Building?product_id=734 does anyone have any experience with this brand/breed of anvil? hi ausfire yeah i know but if i can afford it i could also get a new one im trying to weigh up what is better a brand new anvil or an old dinged up anvil that has the runs on the board if i could get a new peddinghaus in aus i would be happy the one i have found looks to me like the face is dished and one day i would like to make a kitchen knife
  17. All though I know nothing about anvils I do like the peddinghaus anvils
  18. hi all new to this forum have been directed this way by everything mac liking what I see I have been on the hunt for an anvil for about a month Mac has kindly done a little ground work and found a 110kg new anvil for around 1400 aud plus freight(around 3000 kms away) I would like a larger one and have found this the question is it worth it the asking price is $2000 aud or 2800 us yes I know but it is Australia and what weight do you think it is? I have no problem buying a new anvil just want a good quality one I will never want to replace for a shop anvil in aus what would you recommend? I think I want a 200 kg anvil but then again I know nothing about blacksmithing
