Thanks for answer. First impressions are very good: face is very flat (even with a ruler measuring up to the light), but has some marks of cuts, not serious & 2 chips - photo №№ 5 & 9. As for its condition I think it was used hard for its 70+ years and it is still in good condition so I guess that the quality is good. 30mm steel ball bounces for about 80% of the height from which it was thrown. Currently face is in rust, I think after cleaning these results would be better. From 30mm steel ball strikes It sounds continuously, more longer then another Hungarian anwil which I have (Sac MNOSz1300)

Hi there! Today I've bought this anvil. 200kg. 73cm long in total, face is 47cm x 12.5cm. & 40cm high. DIOSGYOR 1943. II. 200kg On the other side is 1489. I would like to find some information about manufacturer, its hitory. Everything which I can find by this name it is a Castle DIOSGYOR in Hungary.

Thanks! Yes I will clean this surface. I'm not going to use this anvil right now, I have another one for use. Currently I'm just a beginner in a blacksmithing. I will work on less valuable anvil. I could not miss this anvil. So I bought it.

I asked about "circled" part of the anvil, bacause seems that this part of the anvil is also tempered. Steel ball bounce of it like from the face.

Thanks! I would not use the holes to anchor the anvil as there is a chance to crack or brake the metal. I know it. I just leave these holes as is.

Thanks for advice. I do not want to do harm to this anvil. That's why I asked the questions before doing something. Taking into account all advice - I decided to do nothing with this anvil, & leave it as is. I just clean it from the red paint and rust (it was partially painted in red - someone was cleaning out the brush from the paint), I'm going to use a metal brush. & then cover it with wax ot may be you advice something else?

I do not want to attach this anvil to the stand using these holes. I want to restore it in origanal form. Or just leave it as is?

I'm from Ukraine. The matter is that a lot of everything, including tools & anvils was taken out from Germany after the World War II in 1945. Question 1). what to do with holes on tha bottom? Through which anwil was attached by bolts to the stand. How can I repair these holes?Fill them with welding? Question 2) . Is this part, circled in red, also the part of the face? Should I also polish this side together with the face?

Hi there! Several days ago I've bought this anvil. It was sold as German anvil. The seller said that this anvil after the World War II in 1945 was taken out from Germany, & it happens that this anvil was idle & nobody worked on it. Then I searched & was pleasantly surprised with such a good find: that it is Hungarian anvil made by SAC. Anvilfire link removed at the request of Jock Dempsy/anvilfire.

The biggest one has 2 round holes on the face. (one hole is clogged)

Hello, everybody. I want to buy these anvils. Can anyone help me to identify its manufactures & age. The little one has marks: on the one side there are 3 stars, on the other numbers: 5 3 9 1. It looks like Wilkinson or Mousehold. weight is about 160 lb. (65kg) length 23" height 9" Another big one has no marks (currently I have only these photographs) weight is about 600 lb. (210kg) length 39.3" height 13.7", width 6.6"
