  1. Yea, you're getting mighty close to normal, evidently.
  2. It's a beauty!! I just picked up an 18 pound sledge head thinking, "How can I go wrong?"
  3. "Are you saying, that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty four inch wide GORILLA?!?! Is that what you're telling me?!?!", Frederick.
  4. If it were a Mousehole, it would likely be stamped. But yes, the stamping can be very faint. Paint stripper may be an option.
  5. Adjustable photocell? I thought it'ld be controlled via proximity detector, that way you simply approach the anvil and it powered up. But, I dunno, maybe they didn't want to do any smithery after dark, ergo the photocell.
  6. I always preferred TDK, but TDK never had a good commercial line like Memorex did. Definitely an electric anvil, it must have short circuited though to blow such a big hole in it.
  7. Je vois que nous aimons les petits cochons français, non? Ho, ho, ho!! Vive le bacon! I see we love French pigs, right? Ho, ho, ho !! Long live bacon!
  8. Is it then generally the norm to use an anvil, of any pattern, with the hardy hole away from your hammer hand?
  9. It's a beauty! The years of work it took to polish that face, lots of iron under a hammer it took, hmmm?
  10. I never said anybody else should torch their hardy. I said, "I would". Screenzies has already determined that the hole is plug welded, a few seconds of preheat flame would verify "to me" that it is metal, and not some cob webs. I am, however, a bit of a pyro, and torch class was among my favorites in school. Side note; on my lab rat, I accidentally welded my pritchel hole shut, because copper tube is just not heat resistant enough. Hard face rod is a real pain to try to drill through.
  11. I'ld run a torch up in that hardie hole just to see what smokes, just preheat flames, no oxygen jet.
  12. That's a real nice colonial pattern. The feet are similar to Mousehole feet, all pointy and triangular. I'ld say it's a keeper, oil it up and use it till it shines back at you.
  13. You sound about as happy as a puppy with two Peter Wrights!
  14. Well PW104, it looks like it's to the island of misfit anvils for you....don't cry, maybe Santa can find you a home come Christmas time.
  15. It would be easier for you to modify the hand truck Frosty. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I am wondering, was this a large crate, as in forklift only size, or was it more of a milk crate size crate?
  16. Crossed Bandaid Brand, my favorite Road Runner ammo!!
  17. A WHOLE CRATE of beer?!?! Kind of a steep price, don't you think? Truth be told, I can't imagine your good fortune. Amazing! I am really happy for you though!
  18. So, here are the feet. They were a just a single leftover piece I cut into three to get just enough. Just need a flame job now, right? Give this thing a hot foot? The paint is actually just XO-Rust Rustoleum. Ez to touch up, ez to cover with any color.
  19. So, the quality and size being their own variables, you're looking at $3.38/ pound. For size, 170 pounds is on the high side of what you might call a "portable" anvil. You could try a ball bearing drop test to gauge quality, this one seems reasonably intact.
  20. That chunk does sound like it has similar proportions to a functional swage block.
