  1. There are quite a few threads on here about anvil repair. Search the forums and you will find them under anvil repair. I would include a few if I knew how. Blue Print 101 was written how to repair one so check that one out. A bit chipped does not diminish the anvil so I wouldn't sweat it. The 140 lbs Hay Budden I use is a little more than a bit chipped but it still gets the job done. My 2cents is all this is Brian
  2. They were located on a website listed in the lessons list here on IFI (LB0008.0001 Reference Material | Lessons in Blacksmithing). The link takes you to a new website now. I did a search on the new website and did not find the books. They were there in December as I down loaded the PDFs to my local HD. If your email can handle 13 MB files, I can forward you a copy of the PDF if you send me a PM with your private email address. Brian
  3. Yes and yes but many years ago. Where are you at Shane?

  4. Jarrett, I have never soldered brass to steel but in the past I did Silver work. I always used straight borax for the flux. It is what I also use for forge welding. Heat slow and let it dry out, I used a flux the consistency of oatmeal for Silver work but it can be thinner. I don't think it should be a problem but thought I would throw it out. Brian
  5. Ptree, Where are you in Southern Indiana? I was out of power for 4 days in Evansville. brian
  6. Hello, I am new to this site but love it already. I have been hobby blacksmithing for 20 some odd years. Trying to set up a smithy instead of doing it outside in the back yard. Thanks for the help in advance and I hope to learn a lot from everyone. Brian
