whats with warming anvils

hey man my dad told me a story once when i was younger about a friend he had who made thing in the process you are talking about. he was cuting a LP tank that he had gone threw with his normal procedure of washing it out 200 times, yes 200 time he was that carfull. as my dad was walking to his shop to deliver some welding rods or something along that line he heard an explossen and ran to the shop. what my dad found was not much, the largest piece of his friend left was hanging from the rafters. so this is very dangorus, so unless you want to die or have some one else die for you find another never filed tank of find a non flamabel way to do it. ( some one i know made a large pipe cutter from an old lathe took a week and a half but im glad he did, the tank still had a ounce of gas in it and he was going to tourch cut it.)

thanks for the advice, its kinda going to be hard for me to find out what steel is what, but i have a lot of knew rrspike of difrent carbon content and im going to try and find somd mild steel to use. and one more question( i think) dose everyone memerize the types of steel?

Hey ive been trying to remember all the temper colers and there uses(like what color to temper what). i know for chisles its a straworange, but i tried to remember knives and blades and just couldent figure it out. i also am haveing trouble with makeing a few tools. Here is the list - Tongs, - cut off hardy - spring fuller - flater - hardy fuller - and a bickern. if some one could help me out it would be apritiated.

hi i was wondering if any one had some old used anvils they dont use any more or are clutering up there shop. i do have an anvil but it is a cheap harbor freight one has dents all over and the horn is oval and flat. im not the richest person in the world so it might be a bit before i can buy one from some one but i really want to end my search for a new anvil.
