If you read what the website has to say on the differing metals it will tell you general applications on what the steel is used for. In H13 it says hot punching, Now if you wanted to make a really good punch, reallllllllyyyyyyyyy good punch, forge weld H13 and S7 together and you will have a super punch lol.

had the same problem once, if you have access to a O/A tourch or welder. just weld that area makeing sure to melt it together and grind of all the access hope this helps

Just had to share this. Last night got tired of siteing around so i went out to clean my shop. Got out there got it all clean and decided to put a strip of leather around my bench to hold my tongs. so i get it all measured and ready to nail and i look at my nails and think, oh darn forgot my hammer inside. i smacked my head(good side) and reached down to gram one of the many forgeing hammers. lol.:)

well thursday the 12th, i was in there for 6 1/2 hours with a 2 hour recovery, i got to go home today, they stuck 3 titainium plates in with 14 screws, thu surgery went better that expected, it also took longer because they had to put an implant under my eye so it would not sink under my cheek. im expected to make a speedy and full recovery, they say i could go back to school in a week depening on how ifeel. thank you all for your prayers they were needed and they helped me out alot.

If you do use a air gate remember this, it is easier to control what gose in instead of what gose out. if you use one on the output part of your blower when you close it of your blower is going to run alot harder but if you close of the intake it dosent change the runing of the motor but decreeses the air flow. this is what i do. hope this helps ya out.

Thanks all and a little update on the situation, my eye is healing perfectly there expecting a full recovery of my vision. we are pressing charges to the fullest. dont know what my parents are going to do about sueing yet but we are geting the best lawyer we can possible get to straighten things out.

He is haveing charges pressed against him, i dont know if were going to sue him because im sure his parenst are already going to pay for it. if not its up to my parents. i would also like prayers for him, he is misguided and thinks he can do anything without consucuence. he needs help despratly and this whole deal is probly more stressfull on him than me, so if you could pray that he finds the guidence that he needs, thank you. and thank you for all the prayers for me there very much appritiated.

Sorry all this isetn really blacksmith related, but im needing some prayers. yesterday in school i had a problem with a kid harassing me so i had him wrote up. today he was upset and decied to sucker punch me, while i was sitting. he caved in my sinuses and shaterd my lower eye socet, i need to have surgery in a few days and am not looking foward to it. i can now see out of the eye that was it i wasent before. but sadly i have no feeling in the lower right side of my face, like my lip and the side of my nose and my not get it back for quit soem time. so if i could get some prayers it would be well aprritieated. and sadly lol i wont be able to get out to the forge for awhile. mackenzie you also migt trying to get a larg piece of pipe( 10 iin dia) cut that in half and run a black iron pipe down the middle that has a ton of holes in it and that could be your HT forge if you use coal, then get a piece of pipe that will fit you blade in it. weld a plate to the bottem and fill it with oil. then heat er up and dip er in. a few experianced smiths have told me that and hope you find a way to get it HT.

To all the beginers out there here is the best way to light a forge that i found. Ive tried all the newspaper ideas and have NEVER goten one to work. so what i tried was to leave about half an inch of pebble size coal at the bottem of my forge and put a nice piece of coke on top of these about the size of a acorn,(coal will work but takes longer). then i take splinters of wood and lay them on the coke and then lay thicker sticks on those, then i line the sides with coke, and get a plumbers torch and start lighting the wood, as i do this i add more and more coal around the edges. once the wood is burning good i turn on my blower and cover the rest of the wood and let the coals light. once all the coals are good and hot a take alot of wet coal and put it on top and on the edges, more on the edges than on top. this wil make you coke, i give it about 15 min to make some coke and get good an hot and start forgeing. hope this helps.
