I can't figure out how to edit my last post . So edit: 8 years ... The more it loosened up the more it seemed to just open up like an accordion. I had to call it a day. I'll mount it when I get time and see what's what.

Well 6 years later finally got around to getting it moving today. Maybe somebody knows more about this kind of vice? I think the bracket on the handle may be an addition to help pull the vice open but maybe I'm wrong ..I haven't messed with that set screw yet. Any suggestions for repair welcomed, thanks

How to forge a rounding hammer(video)
dontpaymenomind replied to Ethan the blacksmith's topic in Hand Hammers
You're a lucky man Ethan, great video, thanks for sharing what you've learned -
They'll need proper PPE Tiny ear plugs, tiny glasses kevlar, booties. I don't really know about cats hearing and eyesight but it might damage their hearing over time and vision if you're welding. I've heard tinnitus can be a xxxxx to live with. Don't know if they get it but something to think about

I Imagine they're harder to find for sale in the winter months as no one is cleaning out the barn/gargage.so in the northeast ~ 6 months a year probably a rarer sight. The good deals on craigslist go really fast, atleast in my area. (like within an hour fast). So unless you check all the time, you usually only have the choice of overpriced beat up anvils. They're out there though.and they are like magnets...

Wondering if anyone knew of any bookssites about eastern ironwork (mainly architectural) I've seen a lot of European but not too much Chinese Indian mid east. Maybe there isn't much of it, but its hard to believe it didn't exist. I'm also interested in the same for old European/Scandinavian museum ironwork Thanks for any help

anvil torture
dontpaymenomind replied to dontpaymenomind's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
the machine just remind me of a slow torture device. They took the whole plate off - no video of what they did after this. -
Home build induction heater
dontpaymenomind replied to Daniel.85's topic in Induction Heating, Oil forges, etc
Is there any health risk with prolonged exposure to an induction coil like this? -
I don't know much about swords but that's about as nice a one I've ever seen. Looks like you and the baron make a good team.
