  1. Generaly, I use a 2lb or a 3lb diagonal pein .... Pending on how fenimine I feel, .... I use a few types and sizes for different jobs, most of my hammers, I have made.
  2. If you find they are just not you, post them to me and I'll get rid of them for ya.....
  3. Good set for first time..... Keep it up
  4. Sometimes it's easier to just answer the question. I've seen the link thing work, saying there is a good topic here on what you are looking for, or may help you, And I've seen people in many forums simply complain, in the questioners post, that a simple search would've found you the answer, in more words than the answer would have been. It's easier I suppose, to point someone to a library, or a search method,... If you are the librarian, or comfortable with the searching forums thing, but then, why would there be a need for a chat forum. If I can answer, I do, if a topic exists, with a better answer, I would point them towards it. I wouldn't normally post, any contempt for someone's lack of research skills or laziness, unless in jest,
  5. They are right........ And a vise will do for shaping or as stated the anvil
  6. I light a small rag or tissue scrunched up, throw it in the furnace, then allow some gas..... I like the auto light idea, using a spark plug with ht circuit, or coil and ponts.
  7. Yeah... Of course .... Thankyou, .., google chrome and some other browser users get that, till you learn your browser triggers and glitches..... We have had to teach a Couple of néw members how to use their own browser, that said similar 2 sleeps. Yahoo! ( not the browser )..... Lol .......
  8. Exactly..... And if forging with it, keep it dry,, ( less to no sparks) and always wear your glasses.
  9. Good to see the people that make up the communities getting on top of things. Thoughts are with those that suffered losses of any kind.

  14. Awesome club day, 9 all up, hammers, tongs, a chipping hammer, the started forge welding of some 5160 for a tomahawk, ( and some cracking)..chatting ,, BBQ , some planning for the September do....
  15. I do lots of crow bars, usually tip only , harden in oil and temper to peacock, after reshaping. The most basic setup will achieve this no probs ..
  16. Yeah, boil the Billy is the Aussie term for the bush kettle. Video link is the charcoal..... I've done one, part two when I've had my coffee....... Part two is on now...
  17. I use charcoal to light the coke, takes a few minutes and you are away. I usually light the charcoal, have coffee, by then the charcoal is established, bit of wind, done. Failing that, a small fire with kindling while you boil your billy, will do the same thing. I find many people don't light enough, or have too much wind, and try to get the coke going too early. This may then take several attempts and waist a good half hour. The secret..... Wait till About one to two coffee cups of charcoal is glowing, add a breeze, and tip on the coke slowly. You have too much trouble, I'll do you a vid on lighting our bodgie forges..... Lol
  18. This topic was started by the one who started it about where to go, not to be taken over by everyone posting pics.... I thought....... Plenty of pictures in the rest of the topics.... I love the pictures in this forum ..... Lots of very clever ppl, and sometimes, they wanna just talk.....Im guessing.
