Wanting to get into the bladesmithing portion of blacksmithing, along with some of the decorative stuff. wanting to learn as much as I can.
  1. Made a wine rack for a christmas gift for my mother this year. went together quickly and turned out looking good. Used an oak plank that was burned to get the color. It holds wine bottles upside down to display on the wall. works nice and seems to look pretty good on the wall. wish i had more pictures.
  2. Not entirely sure. It was what he wanted so i made it to the size and look he wanted.
  3. This is my first fully finished knife so far. I learned a lot and still have lots of room for improvement…but large improvement. Its made of spring steel and measures about 15in from tip to end of handle. Did an edge quench on edge. handle is two pieces of oak stained dark walnut and clear coated. It wasn't a perfect mirror finish but close. Would like to hear what anyone has to say. Any tips would be appreciated. if i left something out let me know and ill do my best to let you know.
  4. 1st try is on bottom and second on top. First ones work but not as good looking. A bit sloppy. Fixed that up quite a bit on the second ones. Open to hear what people think.
  5. Thanks for the input guys! More of an idea than anything. Might just use it as it sits. Will see. First step here is moving it.
  6. I happen to have stumbled upon an old riveter at work for close to free. Was thinking I could take the riveting part off and add a bigger top die and add an anvil on bottom. Seems like it would be a cheap and effective hammer. Any thoughts?
