  1. attached the blower, and lighted it for the first time. Works way better then the previous setup, but then again, the old firepit completely broke in two and the old blower was kind of broken too... :D sorry for the mess in the pics, it's still a bit a work in progress :P
  2. 5.5 cm, that's a bit over 2 inches
  3. Started installing the forge, not tested yet
  4. Ordered this one last weekend: http://www.oezwerk.de/epages/62230868.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62230868/Products/FR28.28.160 It was delivered yesterday! extremely fast service. I didn't install it yet as I still need to break out the old one. I'm also planning on taking some pictures etc since I couldn't find any reviews of BECMA forges. This way I hope someone else might benefit from this info. So far it looks ok. Looks to be kaowool in between the different parts. At least I hope it's kaowool and not some type of foam xxxx Thickness of the pit is 1.2 cm or about 1/2 inch. So far the main things that bother me: - the bolts to attach this thing seem to be missing... which is a bit of a bummer since they mention on their website that they are included. I unwrapped it quickly to inspect it for damage since the packaging was a bit damaged. Maybe it's still in some plastic wrapping somewhere. The box was stuffed with it, they did a good job packaging it. With a bit of luck it's in there somewhere. I'll take another look tonight. - the area of the fire pit around the hole (where the ball that regulates the air fits in) seems to be thin, which worries me a little bit. I don't have enough experience with forges to know if this is normal or not... I guess we'll see. I'll snap some pictures tonight.
  5. I love the look of those agression series! How much do you sell the smaller versions for, including shipment to brussels belgium? in PM is fine if you don't like to post it here
  6. Sorry for the reanimation of this old thread, but the pics aren't working anymore... Can I find this somewhere else?
  7. I'll keep you up to date. I'm a hobby smith, but I forge at least 4-5 hours a week. We'll see how it goes as I don't have the budget atm to invest in any of the high end fire pits.
  8. 10 years is good enough for me ;-) I think I'm going to try one!
  9. Doest anyone have any expierience with these? I was looking around the net for a new firepit for my forge, and I found these on http://www.oezwerk.de/epages/62230868.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62230868/Categories/%22BECMA%20Schmiedeeinrichtung%22/Schmiedefeuer_mit_Geblaese Which seem to be dirty cheap compared to other shops like "angele". which raises the question: are they worth anything or are they garbage?
  10. Thanks for the input guys! I bought one of those pumps to put some oil/grease in there. I'm too impatient atm to take things apart and clean them ;-) But I'm definitly taking your advise Frosty: I'm going to look for a professional to clean and check the engines for me.
  11. I've been looking around the net, but I can't find a decent answer anywhere. I bought a (really) old forge & hood with smoke extractor. Both work with elektro engines and I'd like to give both a 'maintenance' since they are so old and haven't been used in a few years. I was wondering what oil/grease I should use to lubricate them? Both engines have this little "hole" to put grease/oil in them, how do I use this? Any hints that put me in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks!
  12. I'm also looking at a Devil Forge, not sure if I should get one or not. Price is very attractive @Gijotoole: Did you finally decide to order one or not?
  13. Thanks for the warm welcome! I've been browsing this place for a while now, it's indeed a formidable source of information!
  14. Hello, New Belgian blacksmith here, nearly finished building my smithy. Started out with a 5 day workshop for the basic techniques, and instantly fell in love with the craft. Initially I was mainly interested in forging knives, but this evolved in an interest in forging tools in general (tongs, hammers, axes, ...). Bought only a hammer, and I intend to try and forge all the tools I need myself as soon as the smithy is finished :-) Starting with a punch and some tongs. See you around!
  15. Sorry for the offtopic, but it's the first time I've seen a rope wrap like the one you have on your knives, and I LOVE the look of it... Does this type of wrap have a name? how did you do it? Love the swords/knives and the tomahawk! great job
