very few presses I have seen used for forging seem to have them though and the air over hydraulic ones I dont think I have ever seen such a system used, of course you can compensate by using a bigger pump / motor etc but my aim was for small, cheap, compact and practical, maybe I could do it a little faster with a 50hp motor on an expensive pump but my 3hp works ok with the switches.

for the tasks it was designed for it will probably be better than most twice the size.

Look forward to seeing this in action !!

Please post pics when running .....

  3. I stumbled upon this hydraulic tank , self contained pump......

wondering if it's worth grabbing, being a pulley/belt , for a press eventually

    here's a pic , then specs sheet

    thanks

  4. It does appear to be cast, alho not being able to see it in person doesn't help with the guesses. If it is cast then that rules out all of the American makers including Columbian.

Their smaller anvis were not so sleek.

I agree with your guess, it certainly could be swedish.  My smallest anvil is a 20lb Trenton and you can clearly see the line for the top plate on it. It also has a pritchel hole which I don't see on yours.

Anywho, it is a very cool little anvil and I wish it was mine!

thanks bud , I do appreciate your reply !

  5. I've nothing useful to add. I apologize for my comment.

    Frosty The Lucky.

hahahaha, I had a little chuckle reading this as I'm sure many others did...I agree with Frosty on his first reply above.....

but I also think/know you have a great anvil there , nice find and congrats

ps BHutton when your done with the book lend it to falsevacuum so he can flip through it as well, lots of helpful info in there
