What are the components to a gas forge? How does it work? How do you build a burner? Put any input on gas forges that you can please i need to know it all :P

Well i am trying to pick out a solid fuel to use and wood seems the most viable, or cowboy charcoal which i see at trader joes. Can wood be a good fuel source?

Well a better use of your wood would be to convert it into charcoal but i am not sure on the laws and regulations in your area concerning open fires. I think the denser the wood the hotter it will burn. So basically cut the same size chunk of the 2 woods you have and which ever one weighs more well thats the more dense wood.

Was just wondering how you can smelt your own ore and make your own iron/steel. Was also wondering if you can melt a metal object down such as a crowbar or some tool to use as metal for a project and seperate the good metal from the bad so you can get high quality metal. And is smelting a practical blacksmithing applaction that can get you the most out of blacksmithing?

I have another question guys, how can you silence an anvil so the neighbors will not complain? Like make it so its does not make really much of a sound when you take a wack at it. Any is it the heavier the anvil the louder or the lighter?

Well im trying to think if i want to get a Gas or Coal forge. I am going to be making knifes and tools and i really can not make up my mind. Here take a look at the ones i have in mind. Well i alsmot have everything i need to do some blacksmithing just i need tongs. I will be making knifes so does anyone know a good tong size and what type of tongs i need? Answer quick please i have to go soon.

Is flat stock the best for making knifes?

well im going to be doing knife making so what kind of tongs? And im trimming that down to about $800 i think. Im cutting out the stands cause i think i can manage with something for the forge, and wil the anvil be fine just siting on the concrete?
