  1. I just never had any fires with coal till I started smithing. When I saw the thick cottony-looking smoke when the fire is first started, I liked the look of it. So, Smoky Forge it is. Now my handle is becoming smoky or Smoky Rick
  2. Looks like 3 different ways to tighten and loosen the vise. Without touching it, it would be hard to say for certain. Possibly some other attachment that is no longer with it. The 2 pairs of brackets inside the jaws look like another attachment ... thing. Smoky Rick
  3. Gobs of folks around here (Northern Illinois) say things like "too many irons in the fire" and not many of them really know where the saying came from. Can't think of any others right off. Smoky Rick
  4. Hi Folks - I am new to this forum, but have been blacksmithing for about 10-15 years now. Part time and without pay, of course. I just finished (finally) rebuilding an old power hacksaw that I got a while back. Will add a pic here if I can figure out how. Guess I can't but will find a way soon. Anyhow, Hello to all. Thanks, Jayco, that works well. Smoky Rick Crawford at Smoky Forge.
  5. I just used an old belt that had gotten rather old. I laced it with some leather shoestring that I had here. Smoky Rick
