  1. It has no handling holes or any marks stamped on it. Just the raised 100. Biggest size BB I have is prolly 1", would that be too big to test? Scale weight is 94.7. Thanks
  2. Picked up a post vise last week. Hoping to start building a charcoal forge this weekend. Cannot wait.
  3. Hello, I picked up my first anvil today. Has no maker marking other than 100. Measurements are in the pic. Have no info about it, maybe someone here can help id it. Looks good, but there are some marks/dents on the face. Felt like 70-80lbs when I lifted it in my truck.
  4. Thanks for the info. I am located in Windsor, Virginia. The second item is from a McCormick-Deering C-221 Corn Planter made back in the 40's. It lifts about 80-100lbs each side.
  5. Hello, I am new to blacksmithing and have been reading this site. Have to fix a couple bent up parts for my tractor's planter. My plan is to make a cheap earth forge, use hardwood charcoal, and air from a small portable fan. Have all 3 at hand. 1st item is a control rod that is bent. My vise is too small to cold bend it back in shape. Though I could heat it red-orange and hammer it straight again. 2nd item may not be possible to bend back. I believe it is cast iron, not sure if it's malleable. Read here you can cut and weld... Think it would be possible to bend it instead? I could cut spacers and move this part over an 1" and have clearance. 4th pic shows about where it is bent. Any advice on what I am doing appreciated! Eric
